If You Were Here
A/N: Set during the 69th Night: When The World Ends; for a friend with the prompt, "lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you."
He'd been in darkness for a while, the only light coming through as brief flashes, with maybe a face or two in the brightest of places. They'd all been recognized, the foolish Komui, Reever and Krory, even Lavi and Bookman and Miranda, all of his comrades watching him with concern.
Except Kanda. Allen knew he'd never give a damn.
The only one he hadn't seen was the one who worried him most. In dreams, he'd see her often, tell her things he couldn't while they were both wide awake. Why Lenalee hadn't shown up at first, Allen didn't know.
But now that she had, she held him, cried on his shoulder, begged him not to die.
"It almost seems like... we're the reason you fight."
"You are," is what he wanted so badly to tell her. If only she were really here with him
But just hearing her voice, Allen felt the star within himself start to burn.
