Title: You Belong to Me
Rating: PG
He watched her from the street, hidden, as she packed for her trip. A vacation to get away from the cares and worries of superheroing. She did need one, before she, like others snapped and left forever. But still...
See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sun rise
From the tropic isle
Just remember darling
All the while
You belong to me
Things had seemed to be going fairly well for them, so far. Then... he had gone through some changes. He looked so different, so... not himself. But this was him now. But she... She hadn't seemed to mind the change, that much. But still...
See the market place
In old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember
When a dream appears
You belong to me
And I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
The change had forced him to acknowledge several things about himself. Like his admission to the supercycle. He wasn't really such a bad guy. But he had a reputation to keep. And he was coming to grips with the fact that he felt something serious about her. Enough to get him out here on her street, watching her from the shadows. It quite frankly scared him s***less. He... he'd never felt anything like this before, and according to over half the galaxy, he was incapable of careing about someone on this level. But still...
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me
Oh I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
He didn't know how she felt. Sure, she had come to check up on him when he was down, she'd gone with him on that crazy date, but that could have been pity or just friendship. But she'd kissed him... He should just ask her how she felt. Maybe she'd understand. If things went badly... well, he could always say he was only kidding. Hide behind his reputation. But still...
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me
He loved her. And, maybe, just maybe, he'd have the courage to tell her that when she returned. But until then, he would wait. And hope. Hope she hadn't found somebody better than him. She was standing at the window now, looking up at the sky. He watched her a moment longer, then raised his hand as if to touch her. His fingers lingered over her distant form, before he turned and walked to the supercycle.

Author's Notes: Was it any good? really? I can't tell anymore, I can never judge my own angst/romance stuff well anyway. In case you can't tell, that's Lo... Slo-bo (ugh) thinking about Anita. I was SO tempted to name this fic, "But Still...", but as it's a songfic, I figure I should use the song as a title.
The song is from the Shrek Soundtrack. Really soft, and kinda sad.
Disclaimer: The supercycle belongs to DC. I didn't use any names, so I don't really have to discliam them do I? I own this story, and Shrek just 0wnz. Heh, uh, Dreamworks and various other and sundry people own the song.
