It was a snowy day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Harry was waiting patiently for Hermione Granger and Lavender Brown to meet him at the Astronomy Tower. It was nighttime and the crickets were chirping.
Soon, Hermione and Lavender ascended the steps to the top of the tower where Harry was waiting. He had his back turned and his arms crossed.
"Harry? Are you alright?" Hermione asked.
"Where's Ron? I need to have a talk with him," Lavender asked impatiently.
Hermione shot an angry look at Lavender, "Shut your pie hole," she said to her. She turned back to Harry and asked again, "Are you okay? We got your note at breakfast. What's wrong?"
Harry took a deep breath and turned around. He was teary-eyed. "Do you both really love Ron?"
Hermione and Lavender looked at each other suspiciously, but stayed quiet.
"I didn't think so," Harry breathed.
"Um... Harry?" Hermione asked.
"How did I find out? It was so... obvious. I mean, I am the Chosen One," Harry said slowly.
"Look, I wanted to tell you about Ron and Lavender, and me..." Hermione said slowly. Ron had just dumped Lavender, but Harry didn't know.
"But, you didn't tell me, right?" Harry said angrily.
"Harry, look, please," Hermione said, approaching him and speaking kindly, but with hesitance. "Just forget what happened. We can start anew. I wanted to tell you... I really did. Today, we can do whatever we want for you... to make it up to you. I really didn't mean to upset you--"
"How, Hermione? How could you say that?" Harry asked, teary-eyed. He turned away to avoid making eye-contact. He took a deep breath and said, "Ron and you are my best friends. After knowing you for so long, I should've known that one day, Ron wouldn't be good enough for you." He continued to sniffle and wipe away the tears. "And you too, Lavender."
Hermione looked up, confused. "What?" she yell-whispered. She looked around, while Lavender circled around Harry and stood next to her, absolutely confused, but curious.
"But you both can't have me. I'm the only Chosen One, after all," Harry said loudly, still not looking at the two.
"What?" Lavender yell-whispered, getting more and more angry that Harry would even so conceited as to say that they both were in love with him and Ron wasn't good enough for either.
"I mean... I love Ginny after all," Harry said, spinning around to look at them.
"He's gone mad," Hermione whispered to Lavender.
"Now, this is a big love square. How can things ever start anew? Someone's heart is bound to be broken. And that, too, because of Ginny... Because I love Ginny and Ginny only. Not you guys."
Lavender put her hand on her heart and whispered, "Sorry."
"Keep her!" Hermione exclaimed loudly.
"Why are you yelling?" he asked.
"Yelling? Who is yelling? I'm not yelling. I'm not yelling!! I'm not yelling! Keep her! Keep your stupid Ginny! I don't want you! Keep her! I don't know about her, but I don't want you!" Hermione shouted, looking at Lavender.
"Trust me, all's okay from me," Lavender whispered, in shock.
"Really?" Harry asked, wiping his tears away. "You mean... it's okay?"
"Really," Lavender whispered.
"I swear," Hermione said.
"Oh, thanks so much! I knew you'd make my life easy!" Harry said, turning around and walking away.
Hermione circled around to look at Lavender, who looked just about as confused as her.
