Author's Notes
HOLY SHIT! It has been way too long since I touched this story! Note to self; don't start a story without a game plan, cuz it doesn't work. ^_^;;
As such, the story has taken a major overhaul… This will be more or less an Alternate Universe/Timeline version of the events of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's with original characters standing in for several of the main characters. While the events will be similar and some characters will be the same, the overarching chain of events and everything has changed, so don't expect a simple copy-paste job of the anime here.
Also, having seen Dark Side of Dimensions, and enjoying it, I'm making a change to the default duel disks of the timeline. While the standard model we see 5D's using will still be here, the model we see in the movie will be the new duel disk used by characters. While not as advanced as the version we see Kaiba using, the basic features will remain the same. Here the headset is used similar to how we saw in the movie; you can call up card data, combos, tactics, or other relevant data. Kaiba Corp included this to help cut down on misplays and avoid people lying about card effects or whatever. However the headset can be customized with some additional features like communication. As for the holographic/digital dueling feature, this remains, but was included and promoted as a handy feature for both practicing with new cards, decks, and strategies (sort of like YGOPro on the go). One can preload several decks into the disk's memory and select one via the headset controls and use as a fun casual mode for playing with friends. However, seeing as corporations still want to make money, most events and tournaments require the use of printed, aka physical cards for those participating. Specific events do exist where the digital mode is permitted, but to avoid potential foul play and stuff, the majority of events and duelists still use physical cards and the normal duel disk blade.
One more thing, while the powers of the Signer Dragons remain with their respective Signer, this does not mean that the cards of the Signer Dragons themselves are unique to only that duelist. In other words… Anyone can have a Stardust Dragon card, but only its respective Signer can summon and use the powers of the Signer Dragon itself.
Kinda like how Kisara's Blue-Eye spirit is tied to Kaiba or how Mahad's Dark Magician spirit is tied to Yugi/Atem and how only they can bring forth these spirits.
