Barry Allen stood in shock over the results of the DNA test in his lab. The results of this test revealed that the over dramatic super villain Captain Cold, had a dual identity. He had been staring at the results in denial for several minutes, wishing desperately that the sheet would say something, anything different.
The battle with Cold went a little like this: The Rogues were hitting the Central City First Bank, the home of the most expensive family jewelry and valuable items in the city. The youngest of the group, Trickster, had hit the silent alarm, on accident, and his teammates immediately noticed. The Captain scolded the youngster and sent his less experienced Rogues ahead with the most desired loot. Heatwave and Captain Cold stayed behind, and met with Kid Flash head on. They battled for a while, filled with quips and fast paced wit. However, Cold had misstepped and Kid Flash took advantage of that. He was slammed into the vault, leaving unbeknownst to him a cut on his arm. This gave an opportunity for Heatwave to aid his partner, and the two criminals quickly indisposed Kid two of them escaped to their hideout to rob another day.
When the Central City Police Department arrived on the scene, their Crime Scene Investigator, Barry Allen, found the blood sample. When he returned to his laboratory, and ran the test, he stood staring at the page the computer printed.
A quiet blankness overcame him.
David Singh was a simple man at heart. He liked what he liked, and while he was a sharp as a whip with people, he knew he wasn't an expert in the labs. But the Captain of the police knew his employees, so when the CSI Allen didn't immediately provide the detectives with the processed evidence they needed, he knew something was up.
The kid was always eager to help the investigations, and was quite frankly, the best at his job. Naive, young, and always late he may be, but David had known Barry for most of the younger's life and appreciated the talent he had for crime scenes.
Grumbling under his breath, yet secretly concerned, he made his way to the crime lab on the second floor to find out what was wrong.
Standing hunched over his work table, supporting his weight on his arms, sat a trembling Barry Allen. Clenched in his first was what David recognized as a DNA test paper. His face was as white as a sheet, and his teeth ground.
"Allen," he warily called out "Where's the results of Cold's blood test?"
A shaking hand held out the paper to the police chief. Unseeing eyes stared at the table, and David's read the familiar name on the page.
Leonard Snart, Barry's boyfriend of three years, had been a friend to David. He was planning on proposing to Barry, and had even asked permission from both Joe and Iris. Leonard Snart, the man who cared for Barry, and for his younger sister more than life itself. Leonard Snart had stolen, had hurt, and had killed.
"Go home Allen," whispered Captain David Singh of the Central City Police Department. "I'm taking you off of this case."
