Written for this prompt on the glee angst meme:
Blaine gives Kurt a ring at the Sugar Shack on Valentines Day.
The next day, in Glee Club, everybody notices the ring on Kurt's finger. They assume it is an engagement ring and, before Kurt and Blaine can explain, Rachel calls Kurt a hypocrite because he is not supportive of her marriage to Finn.
Mr Schue expresses concern about Kurt and Blaine being too young to marry until Kurt reminds him that same sex marriage is not legal in Ohio yet.
Blaine had just finished kissing Kurt for the umpteenth time. Kurt was surprised but pleased – BreadStix AKA the Sugar Shack was a public place and they had never kissed like that before in front of their friends, and in Kurt's case, family. However, Kurt was glad to let go of his insecurities and just be with his boyfriend whom he loved and had missed so much.
"Finn!", Kurt called, dragging Blaine over to the table where his brother and girlfriend were sitting. "Blaine and I are going to go home. Should we be expecting you any time soon?"
"No" said Finn, seemingly understanding what Kurt was saying. "I'm staying at Rachel's tonight. Don't worry I got permission!" He added at Kurt's scandalised look. "I think Mom and Burt are gonna be home though so you might want to go to Blaine's if you two are gonna…you know…"
Kurt sighed. "Thank you for your concern" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But we weren't going to do anything like that. Dad and Carole will probably want to see Blaine too."
The two boys went outside, holding each other's hands and chatting non-stop about how the y missed each other. When they reacchecd Kurt's car, Blaine put out his hand to stop Kurt opening the door.
"Kurt, wait", said Blaine. Kurt stopped to look at him. "I want to give tyou samethoiing said Blaine, retrieving a small heart shaped box from his pocket. Kurt gasped. "Before you say anything, let me explain why I'm giving it to you now, because I know we're still very yyoung Kurt but I ALSo know that I love you".
Kurt was beginning to understand where Blaine was going with this and he wasn't sure that he liked it, but he was patient and let Blaine talk. "Kurt, I love you so much. I know we've not been together long buut what I kknolw about youi I love and what I don't know I'll find out along the way. When I was in hospital, it made me rea;lliise that life is too short to puut off things you really want to do until to morrow… because there might not be asa toimoerow. I know it was only an eye injury but it cpoluld have been much worse. In short Kurt, what I want to do is ,mmarry you and Ib really HOPE THAT YOU'LL SAY YES TO THIS NEXT QUESTION… Will you accept this ring from me Kurt as a sign of my love and fidelity?"
Kurt vstood there wiith his mouth slightly open. He had been sure that Blaine was going to propose. He was quite galad that he hadn't though because he would have had to have said no. they were juasst too youing,. But he did love Blaine. Kurt looked at Blaine's beautiful face, a fasaceee tthat mere weels ago had been mared by people he had one called friends and by a boy who represented a school that Blasine had once called home, a face thzat was now shining with hopew and anticipation. Kurt had to say something.
"Blaainr, I love you so much too, and of course I'll accept youjr ring." I'm sorry that isn't what you wan to hear, but I need some time". Kurt felt awful saying ths but he didn't want to rush into anything.
Blaine smiled softly, "Sure Kuiurtr, take all the time you need. Talk to your parents about oit if yoou want, and don't give me an answer until your 100% sure".
Kurt smiled back. "Ok, lets go and see my dad and Carole then.".
The two boys got into the care and Kurt drobe ou t of the Breadstix parking lot, Blaine's proposal laying heavy on his mind.
