There were many things that Lily and Iain expected to get out of having sex in the hearse. Embarrassment, judgement, regret. A baby was not one of them.

Chapter One
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Lily opened her weary eyes, and groaned as the sunlight hit her face. It was so bright, causing her to feel groggy, which meant that it was definitely morning unfortunately. She wasn't sure why she was so tired, it wasn't as if she'd had a late night. In fact she'd been in bed by nine thirty. She blamed it on the recent business of the ED, and the fact that she was still upset from the argument that she'd had with Iain.
She didn't want anyone knowing that he'd made her feel so low about herself. At the end of the day, he was just a stupid guy who she'd slept with. She was still Lily Chao, she still had her job at Holby, and she hadn't changed in any way. Letting Iain get to her would just be ridiculous.
She swung her legs round and sat up in bed, running a hand through her tangled hair. It was a due a wash but she really couldn't be bothered. She hoped that it would look fine after a good brush. Letting out a huge yawn, she picked up her mobile and checked the time.
5:30am.
Finally finding the energy to stand up, she dragged her tired self into the bathroom.
After struggling to eat a bowl of cereal, Lily eventually left the house at 6:30am. She really wasn't feeling too well and assumed that she was just coming down with a bug or some kind of cold, however she couldn't possibly book any time off work. Ethan had been off since the funeral and Robyn had been off for a few days because she had a poorly Charlotte to look after. Lily had no idea when either of them would be back.
"Doctor Chao. Are you able to man resus today?" Connie asked, strolling over to her in reception. "ETA for an RTC is five minutes."
"Yes Mrs Beauchamp," Lily answered, trying not to let Connie see how tired she was. "That shouldn't be a problem."
"I hope not," Connie sighed. "I will be in my office for the majority of the day, so please only get me in an emergency."
"Of course, Mrs Beauchamp," Lily said. "I assume that Ethan isn't back yet?"
"Not yet," Connie sighed, giving her a small shake of the head. "And from what I've heard from him, I don't think he'll be back for quite some time."
"Poor guy," Lily sympathised.
She did feel sorry for him. Cal was liked by everyone, but he was Ethan's brother. Ethan was her best friend and she hated it when he was upset, and could only imagine what it was like. She'd lost her father, and yes it was her dad, but they never had a special bond like Cal and Ethan had. They weren't just brothers, they were friends.
When Connie left for her office, Lily waited for the paramedics to return with the casualties. She was actually looking forward to being in charge of resus, although she felt sick with nerves, but she was not looking forward to seeing Iain.
"Okay, this is Dave Marsh," Iain announced, wheeling the first patient through the doors.
Lily nodded and followed him down the corridor, trying her best to keep her professionalism under control.
"He's thirty six years old and was knocked down by a car that was going at sixty miles per hour along the dual carriageway," he continued.
"What were you walking along the dual carriageway?" Lily snapped, pushing the doors open to resus.
She listened carefully as Iain continued to reel off the information, and snatched the notes out of his hand.
"Okay," she sighed, gesturing to Alicia and Duffy who had come to assist. "Get him up on the bed please."
"Hey," Iain whispered, and placed a hand on her arm. "Do you have a second to talk?"
"Not really, I'm working," Lily said. "And you should be too."
"I know," he sighed. "But I feel bad for what I said. I didn't mean any of it, Lily, and..."
"And you should know better than to bring our personal lives into work," Lily said, moving to one side of the bed, with a smirk on her face. "We're done here, Iain. Thank you."
Iain pursed his lips together and shook his head watching as Lily got to work with treating the patient. Deciding that it was probably just best to leave her, he turned and stormed out of resus.
"What was that all about?" Alicia asked, and it was obvious that she'd been eavesdropping in on their conversation.
"It doesn't matter, Doctor Munroe," Lily said. "Let's just carry on with our job, alright?"
"How was it in resus?" Connie asked, catching up with Lily later on that day.
Lily wasn't quite sure how to answer at first. It had been busy, extremely busy and extremely stressful, and she was ready to go home for a well deserved nap. However, she still had three hours to go until the end of her shift. She was going to tell Connie the truth, but she didn't want her to think that she was stressed and unable to cope.
"It was good," she answered. "It was busy but I had a good day. Thank you."
"Well, I'm happy to hear that," Connie said. "I will be honest and say that I had my concerns. You look tired."
"Do I?" Lily frowned at her.
She was confused as to why Connie thought that. She'd showered, drank two mugs of coffee, and she'd powdered her face in make-up to try and get rid of the heavy bags under her eyes.
"Rough night?" Connie asked her.
"No, no, not at all," Lily said quickly. "I actually slept quite well. I was feeling a little tired this morning, but I must just be coming down with something. I'll be okay."
"Well, hopefully it isn't anything too serious," Connie said. "We can't afford to have any more absences."
"Don't worry, Mrs Beauchamp," Lily said. "I wasn't planning to take time off work at all."
"Good." Connie nodded. "I'm glad to hear it. I'll let you get on anyway."
Lily nodded and breathed a sigh of relief as soon as Connie was out of sight. She didn't seem too angry, which was a good sign, but she still felt bad. Running her hands down her face, she groaned and headed towards the staffroom to make herself yet another mug of coffee.
She really needed a nap.
So I hope you liked the first chapter.
I have a question. Crystal could be the one to leave Casualty this year, which I am absolutely devastated about to be quite honest, but I wasn't planning to stop writing for Lily and Iain. Would you guys still read my work even if she wasn't on the show anymore? I wasn't sure how popular her character would then be if you get what I mean. I wasn't sure whether to continue writing for someone who wasn't actually on the show anymore.
