A/N-This is my first story ever. Please review and tell me if I made any mistakes.
It was a sunny day in Saffron City, The most modern and crowded city in Kanto. As usual, people filled up the streets, and on the roads the vehicles smoothly moved past each other. Everyone was busy in whatever they were doing but when a mother-daughter duo passed by no one missed the chance to catch a glance and smile. The girl had long honey blond hair which reached just above her waist, wearing a dark grey tank top with white collar, a red double waist side buttons pleated skirt and a dark pink hat with a black headband, closely resembling her mother except that the woman was wearing a white gown. They indeed looked cute enough to not miss to be noticed.
Suddenly, the girl saw something which made her eyes sparkle with joy and rushed towards it. "Weeeee! A Vulpix! ", She exclaimed as she reached the trainer of the fox Pokémon. "Can I hold her?" She asked, to which the trainer replied in a nod as the Pokémon jumped towards the girl so as to hug her. By this time her mother had reached the spot, "Sorry, if she bothered you. Ashley is quite excited about Vulpix, It's her favorite Pokémon". "No problem, She is just a kid after all." the trainer answered casually until she noticed something, "Hey, Aren't you the Kalos Queen. Can I have your autograph please?" The celebrity blushed slightly at seeing a fan of hers and agreed to the request. For Ashley though, It was becoming one of the best days of her life, 'one of the' because the day after was her 10th birthday, and she was going to get her first Pokémon on that day.
Soon, after they waved away the happy fan, Ashley asked her mother, "Can I have a Vulpix on my birthday.", "Sure, sweetie" Her mother knelt down, "You will have one, and that too is a special one." "What's so special about it mommy!" she asked, her eyes shining with delight. "That's a surprise, dear", she smiled lightly. The duo then went off towards the Saffron Departmental Store (Yes, a branch opened up in Saffron) for Ashley's birthday shopping.
Later, after the shopping was over, when they were going off towards the road to Celadon, where Ashley's father would come to pick them, the girl saw a Vulpix shaped balloon across the road. Excited about the balloon she asked her mother to get her one. "But, Ashley we already got so much for you", she denied. Seeing the glint in her child's eyes and knowing her stubbornness, "Stay right here, I will be back in a minute." She told her and leaving the shopping bags with the kid, started crossing the road. Ashley was lost in her thoughts escaping from them at the sound of honking of horn and screeching of tires. The best day of her life turned into her worst as she saw her mother lying on the road, her white gown turned blood red, and so did everything as it started to fade away …
Ashley woke up with a start. It had been 2 years since she has been having these nightmares about her past, but this particular dream was a little too specific and clear and it seemed something has to be done now.
