Disclaimer: Unless I created this in an AU, I don't own Gakuen Alice.

Editing. I looked over this story and was astounded with the writing. So, I decided to rewrite it. Not sure if I'll go farther than I have already, but at least it'll be better (hopefully)

With chapped lips pursed, hazel eyes looked longingly at the inky sky of freedom beyond the bars that held her. She threw the occasional glace over her shoulder where her mud caked wings fluttered lamely.

Just a bit longer. The girl thought. Just a bit longer and I can escape. With some luck, they'll kill me instead of bringing me back. With gods on my side, I'll escape to actual freedom.

She gazed once more longingly at the starry sky that was calling to her.

Just a bit more...

Tonight. Tonight I'll be dead, or free. The girl mused as the final stages of her plan came into play.

She had waited until the hour before midnight when the guards were getting drowsy from their watch, waiting for their relief. The girl had been slowly chipping away at the bars of her window, keeping old meals she had turned a dark grap on the gap as it make it seem like there was nothing missing. She had finally gotten to the point where she could move two of the bars so there was enough room for her to scramble through the window.

She took a deep breath and moved the bars slowly, as to not disturb the guards from their wistful dreams of food and bed. After the bars were moved, she shimmied through the small space she had created, wincing at the painful pressure it put on her slightly disfunctual wings.

She grimaced but otherwise kept on going.

I don't have much time. I have to get away. Fast. Before they notice. She thought as she darted into the foliage before her.

She ran for some time before her legs felt that her weight was too much and they buckled. Just a bit more... She thought as she got up. I'm not far enough. Too close to danger...

She pushed herself forward with only willpower, far longer than she should have been able to go in her malnourished state.

When she could go no more, she looked for a hiding spot through half closed eyes. When she spotted one, she made her slow way towards it. She almost made it before she collapsed, half-way into relative safety.

The forest was quiet expect for the soft padding of footsteps. A boy with crimson eyes and black hair was running through the forest. His name was Natsume Hyuuga and he was curenntly cursing his fate for being sent on a mission. Today had been Ruka's birthday, and he had to leave because Persona had given him a mission.

Damn Persona, Natsume cursed. Find an angel. What the hell?

He kept on his steady way, coming closer to the institue where his mission was located. He stopped when he saw search lights in the forest and stopped. His mission had stated that no one should know he was there. Since the lights were on, his mission had come to a swift halt. He grimaced just slightly and turned to go back to the academy in a slightly different direction.

On his way back he saw broken under brush and occasional feathers mixed in the leaves. His curiosity piqued, he followed it-mostly because it was also on his way back.

The trail came to an end when he saw what seemed like the tips of some over sized wings, and two pale legs at odd angles. He walked cautiously closer and moved the bushed that he presumed hid the rest of the body.

He was surprised to see a girl with the wings attached to her back. She was obviously under fed and her cheekbone stuck out sharply against her closed eyes. Her dress was caked with dirt and the remains of blood, and her hair was a matted mess.

Natsume stared quietly at the girl as he took all of this in. His eyes widened slightly as his thoughts processed. An angel... Wings... Alice? Is this girl an Alice user?

Yep, this is somewhat better. It's passable for enjoyment, if this is interesting for you, thank you for taking an interest in my story.
