I have always seen the boy that is on a quest to find his reason for living, and I have always stood by as I saw him kill. The blood of the victims barely hit him, if it even did, but when it did… Beautiful… The boy would be beautiful…
Covered behind my book I would always watch him, no matter where he was. My free time was always spend watching him. He probably noticed it, but left me alone. One would say that would be because he figured he wouldn't have a chance against me, but I think he and I would know better.
In time, he will come to over-power me easily. One sly look from him and I will be forced to watch away, that's how strong he has become; to be able to force me, Hatake Kakashi, to look away with only so much as a side glance.
I have watched him since before he came to Konoha three years ago. I have watched him since he was but a little boy, and he has always known, but never made any indication of knowing.
I praise myself too much when I call myself his friend, because I know he doesn't have any friends.
I have always been content with just watching him, but as the years passed, so did my urges. I wanted to touch him, to hold him, to give him a reason for living, but I didn't.
Why, you ask?
Because I am Kakashi Hatake and he is Sabaku no Gaara, and no matter how beautiful I have always thought he was, I knew that he would never accept me.
He is not searching for love yet, even though signs of wanting that emotion flash through his eyes from time to time, it is not time for him to experience it yet. He knows it, and I know it.
But still I have always watched him, and until my dying breath I will continue to do so. And when he finally wants to feel loved; he knows he can come to me.
Why?
Because I am Kakashi Hatake and he is Sabaku no Gaara.
