I am in a phase of creative writing right now, so I chose not to waste it. This is my second songfic, the song is "russian roulette" by Rihanna. Probably most of you know it.
Please, have fun.. or something. I'm not sure how this will work out. I sure hope nobody dies..? Whacked brain of mine, what is happening?
"Take a breath, take it deep
Calm yourself"
He says to me
I breathe. It's all I can do. There is no rain hammering my plastron. There is no cry of pain as my family fights for their lives. Just me.. and him.. and a sadistic smile that will haunt me for the rest of my life in my nightmares- however long that may be.
"If you play, you play for keeps
Take the gun and count to three"
Your choice. Let's play a game. Just between the two of us.
I'm sweating now, moving slow
No time to think, my turn to go-
And you can feel my heart beating,
You can see it through my chest, that I'm terrified
He calls it a game. He tells me I have a choice. But we both know this is a lie. I can feel my brothers' presence, somewhere near me, but fading.. I have to hurry. But then, why is my body fighting me?
But I'm not leaving, I know that I must pass this test
So just pull the trigger
The first turn. He aims at my head and my breathing stops. I can't change it. I know I have to stay, to try to save the very souls I love the most.. But I can't help it.
Then I get a scary thought
- that he's here means he's never lost (before)
I am playing the russian roulette with a guy who never loses. The prize? A key.. and a life.
As my life flashes before my eyes,
I'm wondering: will I ever get to see another sunrise?
He shoots, but no bullet comes flying through the air. I am alive, for now. Still, I can't breathe, only watch in horror as he aims the gun at his own head. He is nuts, compleately and totally insane. He actually smiles as he watches my reaction. "My turn." He pulls the trigger- no blood... He's still sitting there, looking at me, smiling.
So many won't have the chance to say goodbye,
But it's too late to think of the value of my life
And you can see my heart beating
You can see it through my chest that I'm terrified
But I'm not leaving, no, I know that I must pass this test
My turn again.. The gun almost slips out of my fingers when they find the trigger. He is watching me in amazement and joy. What is he waiting for? What can I do? Two empty spots have passed, three more can I find- and one bullet, my name written on it, ready to kill.
So just pull the trigger
With all his might, he forces the darkness to leave his mind and his body to open his eyes. Everything is blurry and the light is dim. Only vaguely he can make out his brothers' bodies next to him, chained to the wall, just like him. One, two..
A gunshot is heard in the distance.. The sound of something heavy falling to the floor.
One.. Two.. One.. Two..
No!
Who wins the game? We'll never know... But we can always hope.
