•Chapter Two•
The Order Of The Phoenix
"I do know it looks dreadful, dear. But, please...do come in," Mrs. Figg said in shame.
So, in Harry walked. It looked just as bad inside as it did on the out.
Mrs. Figg walked over to the windows and shut the puce blinds. "Haga Hermoso" she muttered to herself. Suddenly the room became a brilliant shade of yellow and began to smell of lilacs. Harry looked around the room in amazement.
"You didn't think I'd live without magic, did you, dear?" Mrs. Figg chuckled. Harry couldn't take his eyes away from pictures of ancient looking wizards muttering to themselves and pointing to Harry.
"Hello, Harry," and with that, Harry jumped. He looked behind where the voice had been. It was Professor Albus Dumbledore.
"Hello, Headmaster," Harry said with his voice trembling. Dumbledore looked at him with his bright blue, twinkling eyes. He walked over to the mahogany dining table.
"Well, I'll just leave you two alone, shall I?" said Mrs. Figg. "Perhaps I'll make some tea. It is almost tea time, after all". Mrs. Figg walked out of the room into another which was blocked out but french doors.
"I'm very happy Arabella has fetched you for me," Dumbledore said with a glint in his eye. "There is something very important that you must know about yourself, Harry. You know, of course, that you're no ordinary boy," Harry nodded, "but there is something very peculiar, more peculiar than that scar on your forehead." He pointed to Harry's lightening-shaped scar. "Ever since the day you were born, you have been assigned to the Order of the Phoenix."
Harry would have been more surprised if he knew what this meant. "Er...sir. I don't wish to be rude, but what exactly is the Order of the Phoenix and why is it so peculiar?"
"Oh, I should have known. It does, indeed, always slip my mind that you live with the Dursleys. Of course, you remember the day you bought your wand from Mr. Ollivander. A Phoenix tail feather was placed in there, correct?" Harry nodded. "Lord Voldemort and yourself are not the only people in the wizarding world to have Phoenix tail feathers in their wands. Oh, no. There are thousands more across the world. And for those who do, they are in the Order of the Phoenix. It is peculiar because you are the only student at Hogwarts, as of now, who owns one."
Harry thought about this for a moment. "Sir, there are orders. But, what are they about?"
"Aaahhh, Harry...you'll find that soon enough," and with that, Mrs. Figg walked in with a tea and crumpets.
