Title: Drunken Confessions and Surprise Endings
Disclaimer: I secretly own Private Practice. So these 'things' aren't really needed. (ps, NOT)
Warning: AU in a big way.
Summary: Generally, telling you best friend that you were in love with them was a bad idea.
Note: Let this be known that I did NOT want to write this. I wanted to work on my Adv. Biology and Pre. Cal homework (of which I am extremely behind) but this insisted upon being written and then posted. Whatever, it's your problem now.
OoO
Generally, telling your best friend that you were in love with them was a bad idea.
Showing up drunk to their wedding (that didn't involve you) to confess this declaration, also not so good.
But Coop wasn't exactly in the best mood to realize this, or act accordingly.
Thankfully, Cooper had one thing going for him, his bad timing.
So instead of showing up at the wedding ceremony during the infamous 'if anyone believes why these two should not be wed…' scene, Cooper showed up at the chapel at seven in the morning, while Violet was getting changed into her wedding dress after just having a panic attack and wishing her family away.
The look of surprise she had when they caught eyes in the mirror was his undoing.
Without saying a word to her, Cooper stood behind Violet's back, moved her hair, zipped up her dress, and kissed her neck.
"Coop?"
"Hmm?"
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing."
"That doesn't feel like.." Quickly realizing how difficult it was to articulate thoughts in a drunken daze, Cooper spun Violet around and with a teeny moment, just time enough to whisper a mumbled, 'I love you' they were kissing.
On the whole, it was a great kiss.
Beside Cooper's drunken state, his passion and vulnerability more then made up for it, and was the reason Violet kissed him so passionately back. For about seven minutes, forty-two seconds. A knock on the door and Violet was, regrettably, back in the present.
"Coop."
"Yeah, you're getting married."
"I love Allan."
"You love the idea of Allan."
"That only makes sense to you because you're drunk."
"Then maybe you should get drunk."
"Uh," Cooper gave her another disarming kiss, and with flawed math by Violet's part, "Eh, I got time." The ceremony didn't start for another few hours.
And that was why Violet got drunk on her wedding day, Cooper got the girl, Allan got stood up, and the pastor began telling every couple before they got married to make sure they weren't secretly in love with their best guy/girl friend.
It was simply too messy not knowing.
END.
