Behaved
"Hundley Jane, you have to sit down and behave, we don't get up and wander around in a restaurant, it's not safe, there is hot food and hot coffee." Jackie told the little girl as she gently grabbed her arm and made her sit back down.
Jackie hated it when people let their kids run around in a restaurant, not only because it was a safety issue but because people didn't want to go out to eat and then listen to kids run around crazily and Jackie considered the fact that some people had to save up their money to go out to eat, for a rare treat, and they didn't want their meal ruined by noisy kids.
Hundley scowled at her.
"If you can't sit and behave you and I will go sit in the car while everyone else gets ice cream for dessert." Jackie said, giving the toddler a no-nonsense look.
"Me want ice cream." The toddler said.
"Well then you need to sit and behave." Jackie told her.
Hundley then sat and behaved like her siblings were doing.
"Mama me have to go potty." Hundley told her about 5 minutes later.
"Ok sweetheart, I'll take you, hold my hand." She told her as she extended her hand out to her.
"Does anyone else need to go?" Jackie asked as she turned to the other kids.
They all said no.
"We'll be right back." Jackie told Nick.
He nodded at her.
When Jackie and Hundley got back it was time for the kids' favorite part of their meal, dessert, in this case ice cream.
While the kids were eating their dessert Nick felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned to see an elderly couple.
"Hi, we are sorry to interrupt your meal but we just wanted to come by and say what sweet and well behaved little ones you have. We were sitting at the table right next to you and we were in awe at how quiet your kids have been, with so many little ones we expected it to be a ruckus but they've all been so good, you don't see that much anymore, usually kids are either running around or throwing a tantrum so seeing polite children is a treat, good job mom and dad."
Before Nick or Jackie could say anything in response the kind elderly couple turned and walked away.
Nick and Jackie looked at each other and smiled, they were so proud of their kids!
The End!
