The Truth about Immortality
Hey, I know what you're thinking. Gods live forever. They have miraculous powers. They can do anything they want. Blah, blah, blah... Well, maybe that's all true, but do you think we're born that way? Bzzzt... Wrong answer!
We are born the same way mortals are. We are stronger, better looking and much smarter, sure, all of that.... But we aren't immortal or all-powerful at the beginning. It's the love of mortals that makes us that way. One mortal or many mortals—it doesn't matter. It's the faith, the persistence, the honesty of that love that makes us who we are. For Dite, it's all those hopeful couples out there. For Athena, it's the patient seekers of knowledge that sustain her. It's the same for all of us up here on Olympus. Different Gods, different kinds of love. You'd be surprised...
I'm the God of War, right? You'd think it was the worship of soldiers that kept me going. Nope. It's someone completely different. My sweet Gabrielle, my little bard, she's the one for me. Her love brings me peace. War and Peace. Who'd of thought that one up? But she's my center, my heart, my reason to get up in the morning to face another war, another battle.
I know we come off as all-knowing beings and pretty much a pain in the neck most of the time but we do appreciate mortals. We do remember you. So, on behalf of the Gods of Olympus, I hereby give my sincere thanks for your love and belief in us and in each other.
Signed,
Ares God of War
