Summary: Shiho's going to see if she can't have just a little fun.

Author's Note: Short, ridiculous oneshot about Shiho and her crush on Shikamaru.

Shiho isn't known for being the bravest girl in the world (there's a reason she's in the cryptology division and not out in the field). Nor is she known for having great cunning or prodigious skills at the art of lying and deception. She can't lay traps and she can't lure others in.
But Shiho does have one thing going for her, however: perseverance. If she sets her mind to something, she will surely see it through to the end whether she ends up with victory or defeat. And the thing, or rather, the person she currently has her mind turned to right now is none other than one Nara Shikamaru.
Okay, so Shiho's has crushes before. This is little different than any of those other times, she's more than willing to admit, and it will probably end the same way too—over the moon from three to six months than she discovers that she can look at the object of her affection without blushing. It's no different than any of those other times, but Shiho's determined she'll get some fun out of it this time.
Over the years she's begun to notice a pattern to the men she likes. They all tend to be the quiet type, relatively polite to women and conspicuously intelligent. Shikamaru is different from all the rest in one instantly noticeable way, however: he's so lazy and unmotivated that when someone asks something of him he can't be bothered to say no.
This will be over in three to six months. In three to six months Shiho will be able to look at Shikamaru without blushing and talk to him without stuttering. In three to six months, she'll be comfortable having him as just a friend.
Until then, she's going to see if she can't get him to take her out to dinner at least once.
That should be fun.
