JULIET
Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much,
Which mannerly devotion shows in this;
For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.
She doesn't like feeling of the cracks in the hardwood floor pressing designs into her knees but she really, really likes him and she guesses that it's all that matters.
Their relationship was a collision course — an frustrating dance of "will they won't they" and the illusion of friendship wrapped in coos of the word 'neighbor' from the quiet side streets down the road from the local café. Serena would shrug and laugh and ponder at how remarkable it was that they had come so far if it really wasn't much of a surprise. With the crash of their lips came the cement of their fate and the suppressed, eager murmurs of 'finally'.
He pinches her shoulder between his thumb and fingertips. His palm creates a hollow as it lies over the dip in her collarbone. She lazily glances up, struck with the dull desire to see his face. Calem gives a brief lopsided, boyish grin before it slips from his face in favor of a sharp inhale. He moves the hand tangled in her hair to fumble for her other shoulder, and his fingers push and pull at her skin in an attempt to keep steady.
By contrast, Serena makes sure that she is deft and gentle with each brush and tug. She doesn't have much experience but she's eager to please so her head bobs to mellow rhythm as her nails scratch her a trail down from his naval. Her tongue experiments with patterns and pretty images of constellations and intricate shapes.
She could almost imagine Calem in church because the string of words that fall from his lips sound like a prayer, all sweet, celebratory, and holy. He sighs the word 'god' more times than she's ever heard him say before and the word 'neighbor' isn't mentioned once. Instead, Serena is something different: a luminary, a sun, a heroine— or maybe he's saying 'heroin'? She's not quite sure because his knees threaten to buckle underneath him and Calem pushes forward just as she flicks her tongue up in a sweeping movement. He gasps and shudders. She splutters.
Serena is surprised and she has to fight tooth-and-nail with the instinct to bite down because her eyes are watering and she can't stop coughing. He's sitting on the floor with her in an instant, caressing her cheeks and the nape of her neck and breathing lists of apologies.
She kisses him, swift and rough, and he is silent.
A/N: I'll admit to tracking the KalosShipping tag because those two are too damn cute uou
First stab at something of a bit higher rating? My lovely beta was deerdryad. If anything has slipped past the two of us, I'd really appreciate it if you were to send a message or leave a review pointing it out!
