The one feeling he wished he would never have to feel was the feeling of being a disappointment. It washed over him like sea foam, burying him in the sand while he tried to claw his way back to the surface, but to only end up falling deeper into the endless abyss, with the currents sweeping him this way and that and moving him away from the light he so desperately wanted, like the air that he needed.

The feeling of despair, of loneliness. Of being put down, or forgotten.

It was horrible.

Stupid.

Even more stupid was the fact that his ride wasn't there.

The brown haired boy frowned as he once again dialed the number into the telephone box, and lifted the phone up to his ear as he scanned the empty streets, dotted with abandoned cars and tasks hastily dropped. Far away, a siren could be heard, roaring through the streets and telling all who were still out to get to safety, quickly, as the shelters were going to be closing soon.

The boy didn't heed these any attention, instead sighing when the phone once again went to voicemail and set it back in the holder, before glancing at his watch hurriedly and turned his face up to the sky.

He didn't see anything.

That was good.

The amber eyed boy took one last look at the time, and shoved his hands in his pockets, walking out of the booth and into the desolate streets. It was eerie how quiet and dreary the city was. There were no signs of life, no barks or yells or people talking. All around the sirens echoed, filling the boy with a sense of urgency to run and hide.

Of course, he didn't. It would be stupid to hide, especially when the government official who was going to take him hadn't shown up yet. But as the sirens grew louder and louder, and the streets steadily became worse off, the boy started shivering and pulled his backpack closer to him, glancing nervously around him as if some creature might come out to bite him.

BOOM!

Sucky prologue, yep.

Hello folks, welcome to my new story, an Evangelion!AU or for the sake of Remi's brilliant Random AU Competition, a Sci-Fi AU which I turned into Evangelion AU because Evangelion is pretty darn sciencey.

I'm going to try and make the chapters long so I can pass the 10,000 mark with little difficulty, but we'll see.

Many thanks to Remi for being a total sweetheart and giving me an extension when she already gave us a whole month I love you deary I have no idea where I would be without your guidance *hugs Remi tightly*

Ahem, I don't own HP or Evangelion.
