For as long as she could remember Brooke Davis never gave her heart to anyone.
She didn't believe in love and even if she did she didn't see the point. All you could get was heartbreak.
She'd always use Peyton and Nathan as her example.
She kept her guard up and her heart of stone.

"Hey Brooke," a cocky 14 year old Nathan called over to her.
"Nate?" she said with a sigh.
Nathan ran his hands threw his hair, "I was wondering if you wanted to like go out some time."
She hesitated. She had liked Nathan for forever, but Brooke Davis didn't believe in love. He'd probably treat her like shit.
"I don't think so Nathan," she finally got out.
The next day he asked out Peyton.
He treated Peyton like shit.

Marvin McFadden spent his whole life looking for love.
He would give his heart to anyone who asked.
That how it always was.
Because love was worth it.

"Haley," Mouth called running up to her panting as if he had run a marathon.
"Oh hey Mouth," Haley said looking up from her book.
"Do you wanna go out sometime?" he said in a hurry.
"What?" she asked startled.
"Do you want to go out with me?" he said again more calm this time.
"Oh, I'm sorry Mouth, but I was thinking of asking Lucas out. I kind of have feeling for him," she said quietly.
She never did ask Lucas out.

Neither one of them expected to break their rules.
But Brooke fell in love and Mouth turned down the one girl he could have had something.
And yet they were both right.
Falling in love equals heartache.
But truthfully love was worth it.

Brooke sat down next to Rachel not lifting her eyes from Lucas for one second.
Or at least till his new girlfriend sat down next to him.
"Do you still love him?" Rachel asked suddenly.
"He has Peyton," she said avoiding a direct answer.
"He broke you heart didn't he?" Rachel asked.
All Brooke could do was nod.
Across the room Mouth watched Rachel intensely
Skills came up nextto him.
"You regret turning her down?" Skills asked.
He shrugged, "Yeah."

Rule broken, heart broke, and just plain broken Brooke Davis sat at a bar.
Marvin "Mouth" McFadden occupied the seat next to her, his eyes full of pain.
A tear slipped down her cheek.
He grabbed her hand.
She looked up and smiled, grateful for their friendship.
No matter what happened they'd always have each other.
The two just sat there in silence.
The girl with the heart of stone broken into a million pieces and the boy who would love anyone but never was loved back.
