sailor moon is not mine.
Everything always tasted just a bit better with sweetener, didn't it? That's what Darien told himself, though his brain screamed at him not to believe a word of it. There was a scowl that crossed his lips as he glared darkly at his coffee. Andrew offered a slight smile.
"Everything alright, Dare?" the blond asked, slinging his drying towel over his shoulder. "The coffee isn't bitter is it?"
Darien shook his head. If he was being honest with himself, he wasn't sure why he was upset, honestly. Maybe it had been the 93% he'd gotten on his trigonometry test today. Or the fact that it was raining uncontrollably outside. Or the fact that his favourite green jacket was beginning to tear. All plausible reasons for him to be in a bad mood. But none of them seemed quite right.
"Okay, so, the coffee isn't bitter," Andrew hummed, his hand coming to rest against the counter. "It's raining outside but that's never put you in a bad mood before⦠did you have a bad day at school?"
Darien grunted in response.
"Okay, so you've maybe had a bad day at school," Andrew counted off, just as the bell over the entrance chimed, indicating that someone had just walked through. He turned to greet the person, a bright smile on his face. "Hey Serena, give me a second, I'll be right with you okay?"
"Thanks Andrew."
The sweet sound of her voice assaulted his ears, the raven hair perking up unexpectedly. He took a sip of his coffee. And suddenly, it tasted just a bit sweeter. Andrew didn't question it further. It was obvious what his problem had been. He hadn't seen or heard from Serena.
