The Three Black Roses
"Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale
Her infinite variety: other women cloy
The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry
Where most she satisfies." -Shakespeare
Narcissa looked perfect. Every blonde hair perfectly in place. Her outfit picked after several hours of deliberation. Her diamond earrings glittering.
Bellatrix looked like a supermodel. Her beautiful black hair was twisted into the the highest complicated fashion. Her outfit had been picked based on the covers of magazines and fashion shows her mother hads attended.
Andromeda looked like a boy. Her brown hair was hidden by a baseball cap and her body was covered by jeans too baggy for her and a shirt too long for her torso.
Narcissa would marry into money. She was be the perfect submissive bride.
Bellatrix would marry into power. She certainly had enough of it to share.
Andromeda would hopefully marry into name. It was all she had to offer. Perhaps an eccentric. (No one expected the inevitable.)
The Black sisters. Individuals, to a certain degree. But they would love each other until Andromeda's betrayal made the other two unable to trust again.
When Andromeda left home, both Bellatrix and Narcissa stared after her. Narcissa fought tears, Bellatrix fought herself. Love was obviously more evil than the Dark Lord.
"She brought it upon herself." Bellatrix stated. "Marrying a Muggle. Who does she think she is? Let's not think of her Narcissa. She's no longer our sister."
And that was the beginning of the end for the other Black sisters.
Narcissa married into money. Lucius was extremely wealthy and he did not treat her badly. Not extremely well, but as well as one can expect in a pureblooded marriage. At least she had a son.
Bellatrix married Rodulphus. She married the first man she slept with, though not the only, and several years after the fact. Lucius oftened joked that if Narcissa ever thought she had the power Bellatrix had over Rodulphus, she would never be found.
The sisters spoke with tight lips at the social gatherings. Bellatrix got drunk, Narcissa played hostess.
When Bellatrix came back from Azkaban, she hardly remembered her sister. All her bad memories had floated to the surface and the first words she spoke to Narcissa were never to be forgotten. "Where's Andromeda?"
