Peter had just gotten shot by the air marshal and taken into custody. Ethan didn't expect to be seeing Peter's wallet lying on the floor from when he had fallen, but Ethan quickly snatched it and hid the wallet in his pocket before he was zip tied and escorted off the plane to be interrogated for terrorism. Once Ethan was finished with his interview and Peter began his, Ethan was was handed the monkey doll that belonged to Peter, Ethan smiled at his luck; he had just lost his father and didn't want to spend his trip cross country trip to Hollywood alone. Once Ethan had a rental car he got word of Peter attempting to get a rental car, but couldn't due to not having his license. With this new information Ethan began his search for the man he knew would become his best friend.
"You're right daddy." Says Ethan as he spots Peter attempting to steal a car. "It's all up hill from here."
