Age is nothing but a number.
(lies, lies, lies- age is everything and more, everything times a billion. It is the reason Teddy uses every single time she is in a room with him, alone, age and years and numbers and wrongwrongwrong.)
Lily fucks Scorpius Malfoy and when he asks her why she won't go out with him, she says, "Age, darling, age." And he yells but we're the same age and all Lily can think right then is, i know, i know. "Exactly." She answers but never explains.
"Teddy-" She once tries to tell him, but he practically sprints from the room. no no no no no.
(it screws her up, she thinks, after him, love is only an equation.)
Lily gets married to a man who loves her and she has children and she's happy, she's- well, yes, she's happy.
(except there's always him, being an uncle to her children, always him who whispers age is everything and there's always a girl who protests but obeys anyway. age is nothing but a number and it's true.)
