Dear mum,

Last week Scorpius Malfoy and James got into a fight for some reason. And James shouted a lot of bad stuff about Malfoy's father, about being in the dark side of the second wizarding war, and now almost everyone in the school knows about it. Me and Al all take pity on him, but I'm not sure that dad will like it if we did. Uncle Harry says that Malfoy's dad was a Death Eater, but he resented his actions and now is no longer associated with the Dark Arts anymore, and that we shouldn't judge Scorpius because his father was a Death Eater, we all make mistakes that we regret. And he also told us that it doesn't matter when someone is born, but what they grow to be. I try to remember that.

Al keeps telling this to Scorpius, but I don't think that he feels any better about his parentage. And anyway, in truth I don't think that he his bad at all, he's actually quite a nice person. I mean - he's in Ravenclaw. Anyway, I try keeping a open heart with him, but I'm not sure that dad will like it either if I befriend him.

James' such a troublemaker. He keeps getting in trouble, he usually spends most of his 'free time' in detention. What fun is that? I try to tell him that he should stop playing tricks on people, but he just laughs. Fred tells me that it's just James' nature to be like this, says he takes after to his grandfather, and that I shouldn't try to stop him, because there is no way that anyone can. I think that he's right, James will grow out of it, as Al says.

Hugo's very elated ever since he came to Hogwarts. And he's becoming somehow a little reckless. Playing with James and Fred, I don't think it's good for him, but I don't try to stop him either. He actually got into a spot of bother with Filch the other day.

He was trying to get to the dungeons to Potions but lost his way and ended up wandering around the school, but he got caught by Mrs. Norris. When he told Filch what he was doing, the caretaker didn't believe him and landed him in detention. Poor kid.

I miss home very much, but being in Hogwarts is nice. It's like a second home, although it can never be compared to my actual home of course.

I'm doing great with my studies. It seems that I actually have a knack for everything. Professor Longbottom tells me that I take after you. He says that you were probably the cleverest witch in your age, and that he were very kind. It's not hard to imagine that it's true.

Al isn't very good with his studies. The only thing that he's good at is Defense Against the Dark Arts, like uncle Harry. It's not as if he doesn't try to learn and all, but he doesn't seem like an Einstein kind of person. I try to help him, of course, but he really isn't a great thinker.

He keeps getting in trouble with Peeves too. Well, who doesn't?

Peeves keeps ripping his homework and hiding his stuff. Peeves actually doesn't listen to anyone but the bloody baron, but believe it or not, he actually pays some respect to James. Maybe it's because both of them are made in the same mould. Every time James plans some terrible trick, and it is needed for Peeves to play a part in it, he is always delighted to do whatever James says.

It's nearly time for us to think about which subjects we're going to learn in our third year. I've been asking around, and they say I better sign up on Care of Magical Creatures, because Hagrid is such a great teacher now. I think I will. I've discussed this with Uncle Harry and professor Longbottom and both of them told me to steer clear out of professor Trelawney's way. But I'm still not sure about which subject I will apply for, so, mum, a little opinion?

Can't wait to see you again on holiday!

Love,
Rosie

p.s Say hello to Teddy for me!
