A/N: Okay, this story is for all my lovely readers who weren't exactly happy with the way JP ended the newest MR book. I know I didn't, but that is a matter of opinion. I took it upon myself to write a new one in which Fang does not leave. An alternate ending, if you will. Now, you may read on and, hopefully, enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Maximum Ride or any of the characters. They belong to James Patterson. I do own this story. Without further ado, here is my story.

The Alternate Other Epilogue

I have to admit, the reception was really… fun. I know, lame description, right? But that's the only way I can explain it. Despite the fancy hair, the fancy dress, and the fancy shoes, I had a blast! It just felt so… so… amazing to know that all the people I cared about were safe here with me. The music they played was tolerable, and I danced with Fang all night long. We didn't have to worry about being hunted down, or stuck in cages, or kidnapped! All I could remember thinking was, I could get used to this. Then, the worst thing that I could have ever imagined that could happen did….

A slow song came on. I froze, eyes widening. I probably looked like a deer caught in headlights, but at that moment, I couldn't move a muscle. I didn't know how to slow dance. Jumping up and down and bobbing my head was one thing… but slow dancing? I bit my lip as Fang stared blankly down at me, waiting for some kind of reaction.

"What? The indestructible Maximum Ride afraid of a little slow song?" he asked smugly. As cheesy as it sounds, I couldn't stop my heart from racing when he gave me that perfectly crooked smile of his.

"Is that a challenge?" I questioned, taking a step closer to him and almost closing the small space between us. We were now so close I could feel his sweet, warm breath on my forehead. There's that Fang smell again.

"Do you accept?" With that, Mr. Dark-and- Mysterious held out a tan hand to me. Without a word, I took his outstretched hand in mine, and the dance began. It's a lot easier than it looks, I thought idly as the love of my life twirled me across the dance floor. I felt like freaking Cinderella. I know exactly what you're thinking: The tough, ass-kickin' Maximum Ride feels like Cinderella? Yeah, well, I'm surprised by my own description too. Whatever.

Out of my peripheral vision, I caught sight of Nudge's broad smile as her feet moved in perfect unison with Iggy's. I wasn't really surprised that Iggy could dance- he was perfectly capable of anything someone with 20/20 vision can do. In fact, he can do some things even better. My raptor vision also spotted Gazzy and Angel playing rock-paper-scissors hidden away in a corner. When the song finally ended, someone I couldn't put a name to proposed a toast to the odd new couple, and everything was quiet again. We took pictures and shared laughs for the remainder of the evening.

When it was time to go home- which was around one in the morning- everyone was tired, and I recall having to carry Angel home (which, by the way, was not an painless task). There was one last thing I could remember thinking before I drifted into a heavy slumber: What a perfect day…

A/N: Okay, so that was definitely fluff, and it was definitely short. For this I apologize, my dear readers, but I wanted to write this alternate ending so I would be satisfied with the end to the books until there's a seventh. I am quite positive that James Patterson will write a seventh book because you simply cannot have an ending like that and not have another book. I would extremely appreciate it if you reviewed this story, for it would boost my self- esteem a great deal. Thank you.
