A/N: I have no time to write and I shouldn't be writing, I should be studying, but somehow I did write this. It's a Grissom's POV. You should see it in the light of the episode in which the team goes to a location far away to work on a case.

Do not Disturb
He had mastered all the skills needed. No one would have doubted his ability to do so anyway even though it had proved to be much more difficult than he had expected.
The first one was the "do not touch". It was both the easiest and the one most difficult. The easiest because he'd had practice for more than 5 years. He couldn't even remember ever purposefully reaching out to touch her. She on the other hand had touched him during a case one time. To wipe away the chalk or so she said. He never had any reason to doubt her motives. No reason at all until it was all too late.
The "do not touch" was also the hardest, because at one point he thought he was developing an obsessive compulsive disorder, not only wanting to touch her, but needing to, which meant his hand accidentally on purpose brushed against hers on far more occasions than needed.
Then there was the "do not look". He did not look, which unfortunately didn't mean he did not see. It was impossible not to notice the look in her eyes, in his, even if you weren't watching or were pretending not to be watching. Either way the "do not watch" was a skill which lost its purpose.
It is a shame that when you are about to lose one of your senses the others improve. It's even more a shame when you don't lose that one sense you were about to lose and the other senses have improved. "Do not hear". He doesn't even need to hear, he can read their lips when he is not supposed to be watching but still is. But he can also read their faces as if they were books only open for him to read. Books filled with life stories, which strangely intrigue him as much as they hurt him. Books which are of the kind that are dark and painful, but you cannot seem to close and put away.
And then the one he has not quite mastered. The one that is staring him in the face, mocking him.
"Do not disturb".
