A/N: OK, so this is my first try at an OUaT fanfic. It will be an AU, so please no complaining about how some things don't add up. I'm probably gambling with my life because this fic will change many things that I don't really like. Also, everything will go chronologically which means that there will be no jumping from Storybrooke to The Enchanted Forest and back.

I hope you all enjoy it and that you give me feedback. Feel free to PM me. After I see how you react, I will know if I should continue this.

Prologue

It all started when a young girl named Colette met a strong merman sorcerer. He was alluring and powerful – she was docile but full of spirit. They were total opposites. Her hair was light brown and her eyes were hazel while he was black-haired and blue-eyed. Upon seeing him she fell for him, hard, and not even a month after they'd met for the first time, they made love. It was a passionate night, but nevertheless, the merman disappeared afterwards, leaving Colette heartbroken. A few months later she discovered that she was pregnant and alone. When her parents discovered that, she was sent away from her home – she had no support from them.

In the following months, she tried to do everything in her power to do something for herself so she would be able to support the baby that is to come. For a while, she lived on streets, not being able to find a single place for herself. In her third month of pregnancy, she met Reul Ghorm. It was unintentional, but it changed her life for the better, at least for a while.

Colette was sitting in a street, exhausted when a woman in a sparkling blue dress approached her. She had brown hair and when she spoke, to Colette it seemed that the very air around her shimmered.

"Hello there," the woman said with a nice voice.

"Hello," Colette rasped, her throat dry.

"I felt a strong magical sequence from this part. It comes from you…"

Colette was scared when she heard the woman say that. She knew it must've been the child and she didn't want anything to happen to it. Her fear must've been noticed because the woman immediately said, "It's okay. No one is going to be hurt. I am the Blue Fairy, but you can call me Blue. I see that you are pregnant so I want to offer you a shelter until your child is born. Afterwards you'll have to find a home for yourselves."

Colette was beyond herself and she started to thank the woman profusely but Blue just smiled at her. It seemed that she knew more than she let on, but Colette was unaware of it. Blue took Colette someplace safe where no one bothered. It was an easy life for those few months before the birth but then that had to happen.

It hit her unprepared. It was painful but she went through it. She remembered dizzily the words, "Slowly… Breath, darling… It is coming… Push…"

She knew that she screamed, but everything faded away after she heard the first cry of her child. The pain and exhaustion fled away when she got to see her little girl. Colette could see that she was similar to her father. She was interrupted from her musings by Blue's words, "Colette, the child is healthy and strong. Her magic is resounding even now. With age, it will be even stronger and I'm afraid it might hurt her sometime in the future. What will you name her?"

"Naeris," Colette answered trying to wrap her mind around everything she'd been told about her daughter.

"Very well," Blue said with a smile but then continued seriously. "If she ever needs me, I'll try to answer and listen to her."

"Thank you," Colette said simply.

As per the deal when they first met, Colette left determined to do everything in her power so her daughter would have a life.
