Phoebe's Mysterious Injury-Set in the beginning of season 5
After a long day of work, Ross, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe come over to Rachel and Monica's apartment for dinner. Monica passes around her homemade ravioli. "Delicious!" Chandler exclaimed. "How do you like it?" asked Monica. "It's great, Mon!" the group replied. Phoebe, however disagreed "I'm not a fan of ravioli."
As Phoebe was about to sit down to watch TV, she smelled Rachel's orange. "Hey Rach, pass me an orange." "Sure!" replied Rachel, picking up an orange from the dining room table and passing it to Phoebe. Phoebe ran back to catch the orange, which was thrown too high. "Crash!" Phoebe crashed into the TV, and shards of glass went everywhere. "Ugh! It's going to cost a fortune to buy a new one! Phoebe, Rachel, leave while I calm down!" Monica said angrily."Sorry." Phoebe and Rachel mumbled simultaneously.
"Sorry about the TV, Rach." Phoebe said, feeling guilty. "It's okay, it was my fault too. Want to go to the Central Perk, we can get coffee?" suggested Rachel. Phoebe agrees, and they walk down the stairs.
Gunther takes the girls' orders, and when he comes back he has a rose in his hand. He hands the girls there coffee, and Rachel's has a heart drawn with creamer. "Rachel" says Gunther "I think you're a beautiful, amazing person. I would love it if you went on a date with me". Rachel was silent, with a shocked expression on her face. She was not expecting this. Phoebe turned to Gunther and said, "She's not interested Gunther. Now, give us some privacy." Gunter walked away, slowly and upset.
"Thanks, Phoebe, I'm really bad at rejections. I'm not ready to date, I'm still getting over Ross and our breakup, and I'm not interested in Gunther." "It was nothing." Phoebe replied as they left the café.
As Rachel entered her apartment, Phoebe started walking into Chandler and Joey's apartment. "I'm grabbing my jacket, I left it in here when Joey and I were playing a game of fireball." "Okay." Rachel said, closing the door. Ross and Joey were playing a board game on the kitchen table. They all jumped as they heard a loud thud come from Chandler and Joey's apartment. Then they heard commotion consisting of footsteps, and the three friends ran across the hall.
When they entered the apartment, they were flabbergasted to find Phoebe on the floor, with a 2 by 4 next to her. She was lying on the ground, unconscious, and it appeared as though she was hit hard in the back of the legs. Monica was standing over her, and Chandler came out of his bedroom, throwing on a shirt quickly. No one questioned Chandler, they were focusing on Phoebe. "Oh my god, Monica! I knew you were mad about the TV, but I never thought you would do something like this!" Rachel exclaimed with a nervousness behind her voice "What? I would never! I love Phoebe like a sister!" Monica defended herself. "Then what were you doing over here?!" Joey questioned. "I...was" Monica glanced nervously at Chandler "dusting off the couch." "Sure" replied Joey.
A few minutes later, the police and an ambulance arrive. The police question everyone, and Phoebe is drove away in the ambulance. The police announce "I conclude Monica Geller is likely to blame for this innocent. She was in here without a valid reason, and was angry at Phoebe earlier today." The police handcuff Monica and take her to jail.
Ross, Joey, Chandler, and Rachel visit Phoebe in the hospital. She had surgery on the back of her leg, but she will make a full recovery. She is conscious now and doing well. Ross asked Phoebe, "What do you think happened? Could it have been Monica?" "I don't know", replied Phoebe, "I can't remember anything, but Monica seemed really mad at me earlier. I can't imagine she would do something like this, but you never know." Joey looked over at Chandler, who was being noticeably quite. "Chandler, are you okay?" asked Joey, concerned. "Yeah, I'm going to the apartment to do some investigating, I don't believe Monica is responsible for this" Chandler said as he left.
Chandler walked around, he picked up the 2 by 4. Then he found something in the duck's food dish. It was a name tag from the Central Perk. It said "Gunther". Chandler called the police, and told them to meet him at the Central Perk.
"I know Monica Geller is innocent, and I'm going to proof it."Chandler said, as Gunther listened, nervously. "The 2 by 4, used in the crime, was the same one used to build these tables you see all around. They have extra parts in the back room. And lastly, I founded this name tag in my apartment." "How do you know Monica was an accomplice?"asked a police officer. "Because she was there with me, we are dating." replied Chandler. The police arrested Gunther. Monica was released from jail.
The next day, Phoebe got her memory back. She confirmed it was Gunther who attacked her. After doing a fingerprint analysis and carefully examining the crime scene, Gunther was confirmed as the attacker. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison. When the police reports came out, everyone knew Chandler and Monica were dating. They were surprised at first but Monica and Chandler's friends were happy for them. Phoebe came home from the hospital, and the friends celebrated by going to the store to buy Monica a new TV.
