AN: Hey guys! I hope you like this one shot as much as I do! I know I should be working on New Kid On Campus, but I find writing one shots much more entertaining… sorry not sorry lol

Please read and review! It means so much!

Thanks;)

One Sunday morning, Beca and Chloe decided to walk to their favorite breakfast place a few blocks away from their apartment. When they were about halfway there, A woman was walking towards them walking her yellow labrador puppy.

"OM-ACA-G, Babe! Look at how cute that dog is!" Chloe exclaimed, grabbing Beca's arm to get her attention.

"You realize we graduated so you don't have a valid reason to use that phrase anymore, right?" Beca remarked, looking at her girlfriend.

"I'm going to go say hi to the puppy." Chloe said, completely ignoring the brunette's comment. Beca groaned as her girlfriend walked over and knelt down in front of the puppy to pet it while talking to the owner. Beca stood behind Chloe awkwardly while the dog played with the redhead. Beca thought it was adorable seeing Chloe playing with dogs, her face always lit up and her eyes sparkled as the puppy ran to Beca and started to jump up and lick her hands.

"Someone likes you Becs." Chloe giggled. "This is my girlfriend Beca." She said to the dog owner.

"Nice to meet you." She said.

"Same to you." Beca replied, crouching down to pet the yellow lab. "You look familiar, do I know you from somewhere?"

"Yeah I think I've seen you guys around before too, do you two live in the apartment building up the street?"

"Yeah, we moved into an apartment there about a month and a half ago." Chloe said, finally pulling herself up from the ground to converse with the dog owner.

"That's how I know you then! I live on the second floor of that building."

"Nice, we are on the fifth." Beca replied, also standing now, even though the puppy whimpered when she stopped petting him.

"I didn't know our building was pet friendly," Chloe turned to Beca. "Did you?"

"I had no clue."

"Well it was nice meeting you to! I'd love to stay and chat but this guy is eager to keep walking around." The owner said, starting to be pulled by the leash connected to her dog. "See you around the building."

"See ya." Beca waved as they began to walk back in the direction of the diner.

"Do you like dogs?" Chloe asked.

"They're alright I guess." Beca answered. "Why?"

Beca never considered herself a dog person. It's not that she hated dogs; most of them were pretty cute, if they didn't pee all over the place and chew on all of her belongings. Beca doesn't mind when a dog sniffs her on the street and she even pets them sometimes, but it's not like she goes out of her way to find as many dogs as possible.

Chloe, on the other hand, loved dogs almost as much as she loved the Bellas (key word almost; because it's impossible for her to love anything else as much as them). Chloe loves their floppy ears and big noses to the point that whenever her and Beca pass one on the street that she stops immediately to pet it. Beca normally acts apathetic towards the dog when Chloe first crouches down to greet it, but when the dog starts to smell her, she pets it for a minute too before dragging Chloe back in the direction they were walking.

"Would you maybe want to get one?" Chloe asked shyly, as if she was afraid of the answer that she would get.

"Sure." Beca said, grabbing Chloe's hand and interlocking their fingers as they continued their trek to breakfast.

"Really?" Chloe exclaimed. She was sure Beca would need some convincing before she agreed to such a big step in their relationship.

"Yeah, I mean I think it would be fun having a dog together." Beca said before giving Chloe a confused look. "Did you think I would say no?"

"I didn't know how you would react to the question to be honest. I mean getting a dog together is a big step and I didn't know if you were ready to take it." Chloe explained.

"Chloe, we've been in love with each other for years and we didn't even figure it out until your drunken confession at that bar in Copenhagen right after winning the Worlds. I was the one who asked you to be my girlfriend and I was the one who asked you to move in with me last month." Beca stopped walking, put her hands on her girlfriend's shoulders, and looked her in the eyes. "You are the one who helped me get over my fear of commitment, without you I wouldn't be half as happy as I am right now, and I want to thank you for that. I love you Chlo."

"Aw, Becs, I love you too." Chloe cupped Beca's cheek and brought their lips together in a short but sweet kiss.

"Now let's go get breakfast and we can walk to the animal shelter afterwards to pick out our new addition, okay?"

"Yay! I can't wait!." Chloe smiled, looping their arms together as they made their way to the diner. After turning one more corner, Beca pulled open the door to the 121 diner. They had been going there since they got their apartment down the street. The two former Bellas were weekly customers and they had been there so many times that them and owners, Frank and Anne, were on a first name basis. When they walked inside they immediately sat down in their regular seats at the counter, the two furthest from the door, and picked up their menus.

"I don't even know why I'm looking at this," Beca said more to herself than Chloe. "I've ordered the same thing every week since we've been coming here. Chloe giggled as Anne came buy to take their orders.

"How are my favorite customers?" She asked.

"We are great!" Chloe exclaimed. "We are stopping by the animal shelter after breakfast to adopt a dog together!" Beca smiled, loving how excited Chloe is about their next big step.

"How wonderful! I'm happy for you both. I'll get you guys some coffee while you look over the menus a little more." Anne walked away to make the coffees.

"Are you going to tell everyone about the dog?" Beca teased, signature smirk already on her face.

"I'm just so excited!" Chloe said. "Okay, now I have to figure out what I'm ordering."

"Why don't you get the same thing everytime like I do?"

"Variety is the spice of life, babe. That is why I have decided to order something new every time we come here." Chloe explained, skimming through the dishes on the menu.

"What happens once you order all of them?" Beca asked, curious of her girlfriends reasoning.

"I don't know yet, I guess I'll have to figure something out by the time I reach the last dish."

"Alright, what's the meal for today?"

"The vegetarian omelette! Sounds Delicious!" Chloe said with delight.

"Sounds disgusting." Beca deadpanned.

"Alright girls, here's your coffee. Are you all set to order?" Anne asked, setting the mugs down in front of the two.

"Yes, I will have my usual, and the lady to my left will have the vegetarian omelette." Beca ordered. Chloe found it somewhat domestic to listen to Beca order for the both of them. It was one of the many constant reminders of how much Beca cared for her.

"It'll be ready in 15." Anne said after she was done scribbling their order in her notepad.

"Thanks Anne!" Chloe bellowed as Anne walked into the kitchen.

"So, what type of dog do you want to get?" Beca asked, turning her stool to fully face her girlfriend.

"I don't know, there are so many choices…" Chloe trailed off, staring out the window of the diner in deep thought.

"Well it doesn't matter to me. I'm going to look up dog shelters within walking distance so we can check them out." Beca pulled out her phone.

"I can't wait!" Chloe yelled with delight, making Beca chuckle to herself.

"Well you're going to have to wait until after breakfast, babe." Beca teased.

"Hey girls!" Frank, the other owner of the diner, greeted them as he came out of the kitchen with their food. "Here's your food."

"Thank you, Frank!" Chloe said, grabbing her fork and knife.

"Anything for my favorite couple." Frank winked.

"Haha, thanks Frank." Beca said. Frank smiled at them before moving to the other side of the counter to wait on other customers. Chloe dove into her omelette and took a huge bite from the side.

"Oh my God this is so freaking good." Chloe said with her mouth full of food, making it hard for Beca to decipher the sentence.

"I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that." Beca smirked.

"I said that this is so good!" Chloe exclaimed, taking another big bite, making Beca chuckle. The brunette turned to her own food and started to eat. Her 'usual' consisted of two waffles covered in whipped cream, two sunny-side-up eggs, and a side of bacon. It's what she ordered the first time they came here and Beca has ordered it ever since. They both ate their breakfast and drank their coffee while watching the news on the old box tv in mounted at their side of the counter. When Beca finished (she was a much faster eater than Chloe), she continued to look on her phone for nearby animal shelters and found one less than a mile away.

"Chlo, you almost done?" She asked.

"Are you rushing me, Mitchell?" Chloe questioned.

"Only because I just found an animal shelter nearby." Beca showed her phone screen to Chloe.

"Yay!" Chloe shouted as she wolfed down the rest of her omelette. Beca almost had tears falling down her face from laughing so much seeing Chloe shovel forkfuls of omelette into her already stuffed mouth. "Okay, I'm done." Beca pulled out some cash and placed it next to their empty plates to pay for their meals (including a very generous tip for Frank and Anne). Chloe hopped off of her stool, grabbed Beca's hand and dragged her outside.

"Jeez Beale, you're about to tear my arm off." Beca said after taking her phone out of her pocket to pull up the directions. Chloe and Beca walked to the animal shelter, hand-in-hand. When they arrived, they went up the the information desk to talk to the secretary.

"Hello, we would like to adopt a dog." Beca said, looking lovingly at Chloe.

"Well you came to the right place!" The secretary said. "The dogs are right on the other side of that door. If you need anything don't be afraid to ask our volunteers or just come back to me. I'm Claire by the way." Chloe thanked her and practically ran to the door, Beca trailing behind.

On the other side of the door were about ten fenced off sections in the room, each one containing a dog. Some of the dogs stood alert when the door was opened, some started to bark excitedly, but one in the section furthest away from the door waited expectantly for the former captains to greet him. Beca and Chloe started to make their way around the room, stopping at each section to look at the dogs and pet them through the fences. Chloe loved all of them, but didn't feel anything special for the dogs they met so far. Beca continued to pet the dogs, but wanted to let Chloe make the final decision on which one to adopt because it made her happy just seeing Chloe happy. They continued to pet the puppies at each section before they halted at the last. This dog was the only one who was yet to bark or freak out when they originally entered the room; he just stood in front of the fence waiting for them.

"Aw, Becs! Look how cute he is!" Chloe cooed as she kneeled in front of the cage to pet the puppy through the fence. The dog was a golden retriever, about 2 months old. He just sat there obediently and let Chloe pet him. Beca smiled at the dog and sat with Chloe on the floor, admiring how happy Chloe was playing with the puppy.

"He is very cute." Beca agreed. She started to join in on petting the puppy through the fence. "Do you like him?" She asked Chloe.

"I love him!" Chloe exclaimed. "He's so calm and cute."

"Then let's adopt him." Beca said.

"Really?!" Chloe yelled in disbelief.

"Well that's what we came here for right?" Beca laughed. "I'm going to go back to the desk and tell Claire that we want this one." Beca stood up, but Chloe grabbed her hand and pulled her back down.

"I love you." Chloe muttered against Beca's lips before kissing her.

Beca pulled back and stood up again. "I love you too, now I'll go talk to Claire so we can take this little guy home okay?" Beca walked back into the main room of the animal shelter.

"My girlfriend and I would like to adopt the puppy in cage ten." Beca said.

"How wonderful!" Claire began. "You will have to fill out this paperwork and then purchase some of the necessities for owning a dog and then you will be all set."

"Ok cool, thanks." Beca replied, taking the papers, a clipboard and a pen from the secretary. She filled out the forms as fast as possible and handed them back to Claire. Chloe came out of the door and stood next to Beca, wrapping an arm around her waist.

"Are we all set, babe?" Chloe questioned impatiently.

"Almost, Chlo." Beca said.

Claire looked over the paperwork to make sure it all of the questions were filled out correctly, then turned back to the couple, "Ok! All we can supply you with here is a kennel for the puppy, you will have to buy everything else on your own. There is a PetSmart a few block away, so you will be able to find everything else there." Claire explained. "Here is the kennel, this one is for puppies and small dogs, so when he grows you're going to need a bigger one." She hauled the kennel over the counter and Beca took it and placed it on the floor. "Now I'll go get your puppy for you and you will be all set to go!"

"Thanks!" Chloe said. "Wait, don't you have to pay?"

"Babe, that's what all of that paperwork was."

"Oh, right." Chloe remembered.

"Alright, here he is!" Claire said, placing their new puppy into the kennel so he could be carried home. "Have a great rest of your day!" She said, returning to her spot behind the desk

"You too! Thanks again!" Chloe thanked as they walked back outside with Beca carrying the crate with their new addition inside. "I'm so happy!"

"I can tell." Beca smirked. "Do you want to walk to PetSmart now to buy the rest of this little guys stuff?"

"We should probably drive there." Chloe reasoned. "We aren't going to be able to carry everything all the way home by ourselves."

"Good point." They walked back to their apartment to figure out what they needed to buy. Once they had their list made, Beca and Chloe got into their car with their puppy's kennel resting in the back seat. They parked the car in the parking lot and walked into PetSmart, bringing the puppy in too.

"Hello and welcome to PetSmart, how can I help you?" An employee said.

"Could you direct us to where the things on this list are?" Chloe handed him the list.

"All of these are going to be in aisle twelve." He said, pointing to the end of the store.

"Thank you." Beca and Chloe walked to aisle twelve and started looking for the things they needed.

"Ok, a leash." Beca started, reading the items on the list while Chloe searched the shelves for them.

"Over here! Should we get green or blue?" Chloe asked.

"Blue." Beca answered as Chloe put the leash in their shopping cart. "Next, a collar." Chloe grabbed a blue collar to match the leash and tossed it into the cart.

"Got it." She said.

"A dog bed." Beca read.

"Oh, there's so many choices." Chloe looked at the variety of dog beds. "Let's get this one because it's huge; so we won't have to buy another one when he gets bigger. And it matches the color of our couch."

"Okay, dog food and treats." Beca said.

"Got it." Chloe lugged two huge bags of dog food and one medium bag of bone cookies onto the bottom of the cart.

"Food and water dishes."

"Ok." Chloe grabbed two black bowls decorated with paw prints painted on the sides.

"Dog toys."

"God, there's so many different kinds. Which ones should we get?" Chloe questioned.

"How about we each pick three." Beca offered.

"Sounds good." They each picked out toys, Beca choosing a blue tug-of-war rope, a mini leather football, and pack of 6 multi colored tennis balls, and Chloe picking a stuffed mallard, a rubber steak, and an oversized bone. "Anything else?" Chloe asked.

"No, but if there's anything else we want we can pick it out now." Beca said. They looked at the shelves for anything else they may want.

"Becs! Look at how adorable this is!" Chloe held up a pink small tutu.

"Chloe, our dog is a boy." Beca laughed. "How about this one." Beca grabbed a little duck onesie and handed it to Chloe, who giggled. "What?"

"Nothing, it's just I didn't know my girlfriend was such a softy." Beca tried to look offended but couldn't help but smile.

"Excuse me, but I happen to be the baddest of badasses." She retorted.

"Sure you are babe, but this is adorable, you have great taste." Chloe said, placing the outfit into their cart.

"Okay, let's pay of all of this and then we can go home." They brought their stuff to the front and payed. Once they left the store and everything was packed in their trunk, they got inside.

"We should put his collar on now." Beca suggested, grabbing the collar. Chloe opened the kennel that the dog had been in since they got him and placed him in her lap. The puppy immediately started to lick the redhead's face, making her and Beca giggle. Beca put the collar around the puppy's neck and started to pull out of the parking lot. Chloe turned on the radio and they started to sing. During the chorus of the song, the puppy barked as they sang.

"I guess the little guy doe have a voice." Beca remarked and they continued on with their song. When they arrived at their apartment, they lugged everything inside and began to unpack their items. As soon as Chloe placed the puppy on the hardwood floor of the apartment, he started to run freely, exploring every corner of the rooms. Beca set up his dog bed next to the couch in the living room and Chloe placed the dog bowls and dog food next to the kitchen counters and the dog treats in the cupboard so the puppy couldn't find them. They unpackaged all of the toys and put them next to the dog bed and Chloe put the onsie in their bedroom.

"Hey, baby?" Beca called from the living walked down the hallway to see what her girlfriend was calling her for.

"Yeah?" She replied, walking into the living room and sitting next to her girlfriend on the couch, who was petting their puppy.

"I just realized that we didn't give him a name."

"You're right…" Chloe trailed off, thinking of names. "What about Bella?"

Beca laughed, "Again Chlo, he's a boy. And I don't think that would blow over well with Stacie."

"True."

"I was thinking Captain. I mean we were both captains of the Bellas, so there's a connection to our college years." Beca explained.

"I love it, and I love you." Chloe kissed Beca on the lips. The kiss was starting to heat up before it was interrupted by a bark coming from Captain.

"Okay Captain, we get it. You need all the attention." Chloe giggled, picking up the puppy to place him in her lap. Beca smiled at her girlfriend and their new dog. She was so elated at where she was in her life; with her career starting to take off, a new apartment, Captain, and the girl of her dreams by her side.

Beca thought that her life couldn't get any better.
