Under the mistletoe
It was the day just before everybody was coming home to the Burrow for Christmas, when for a change both Lupin and Tonks were together there with Molly. Molly had already decorated the entire house, so there would be no need to worry or haste once every one had arrived. Molly was busy in the kitchen and had left Tonks alone in the living room for a moment when a second later Lupin arrived.
Tonks looked around when she heard a door open, saw Lupin coming in, turned her head again to start looking at her toes and quietly said 'Hello'.
'Hello, I … I didn't expect you to be here.' Lupin said back. Silence fell and after a minute or so, he spoke again. 'Uhm, Molly did a good job on the house.'
Tonks just nodded as an answer and Molly's voice spoke out of the kitchen.
'Tonks dear, did I hear you talking or is somebody else there?'
'No, it's just Lupin. He has just arrived,' Tonks replied in the direction of the kitchen.
Tonks waited for Molly to say something else again, or ask why Lupin was here, or may be even to come to the living room, but everything remained silent. Tonks could feel herself getting slightly pink in the face by now. Lupin was still standing in front of the door with his cloak on. After a while, Tonks finally looked into his direction again.
'You're standing under the mistletoe,' Tonks quietly concluded.
Now it was Lupin's turn to get pink in the face and he quickly jumped away from his place. A little smile spread over Tonks' face. This made Lupin grin too, now he was looking at her.
'You're standing under the mistletoe as well,' he said.
Tonks looked up and indeed above her hung a mistletoe. Slowly she began to laugh, until she couldn't stop anymore and Lupin laughed along with her. When they had stopped laughing, they noticed that the were still only a few inches away from each other. Once more, both of them turned a little pink and then Lupin spread his arms to take Tonks into a hug.
Out of the shadows in the kitchen, Molly was watching the pair of them. In her one hand she had her wand and in the other was still a little bit left of mistletoe.
