It was a warm Friday night. The gentle wind carried the gentlest caress of perfume as it rustled the leaves on the towering trees. Wafting through the neighborhood, it floated into an open door of a porch. Three boys, not quite men, sat around a table strewn with dishes and littered with silverware that glittered in the light of the two candles that flickered in the center of the table. The zephyr ruffled one boy's hair, then made another one's flutter softly, and tried to no avail to do the same to the third. Realizing that it was fading fast, just like the day that was dying, it swooped toward the candles, making them flicker before it disappeared. All that was left of the breeze was the flames that had grown slightly because of the oxygen left by it, gobble greedily by the fire.

The white candles that held the miniature blazes aloft were melting, dripping wax on to the tablecloth. The boy with the storm in his eyes and music in his soul passed his hand through the flames, testifying that he felt no pain. The young man whose glasses sparkled and flashed in the light looked across the table to the tallest and darkest among them and smiled. The boy of shadows returned the grin and spoke softly in his deep, melodious voice to his bespectacled comrade.

"Good Shabbos, man."

The boy in the glasses smiled. He was glad to have his friends here to mark the end of the past week, to remember that there is something bigger than the trivialities that clouded their vision during the rest of the week. Even though his brothers only did this because of him, he felt that they found it just as peaceful as he did. That was what this night was about: finding peace among chaos, art among the rigid lines of life. He decided to hold on to this moment a little longer with his brothers, as a new breeze pushed a veil of thin clouds across the moon. And his world glowed.
