The matter of my creation is but a blur to me. But with immense loneliness, I can say that I was the first of my kind. From the fabric of Hylia's shadow, was I, and subsequently, the sheikah race, born. The darkness being encased in light as I was first given vision was of Hylia in all her glory. With a smile, she lowered her hand and brought me into the light.
"You must be confused, young one. To come into this world in such a way."
"Where am I?" I spoke in a rough voice, my vocal chords straining its first use. Hylia moved to the side, giving me a chance to observe the environment. The world glowed beautifully, like the spirit of each living thing could burst with life and potential at any moment. I felt unworthy, just to be in the presence of such majesty. A dozen feet in front of me was the most eye-catching thing of all. Three triangles touching at the tips, shone with such power, that I longed to feel it with my own hands, reaching my hand out instinctively, Hylia gently lowered my hand with hers, a silent command. 'Don't'
"This is the sacred realm. The resting place of the gods. You ought to be grateful, not just anyone is given life in such a place of reverence." Hylia smiled, my heart seemingly melting for my apparent creator. It is then that a second, more important question entered my heart.
"Who am I?"
"Ah, that is a question that requires a longer explanation," Hylia said, pushing her finger together. "I am the Denizen of this land, Known as Hylia. Given stewardship by my 3 sisters, it is my job to protect the life here and the sacred triangle." She looked away awkwardly, " I deemed it necessary to create an agent to enact my will, and provide council, that is your role, Umbra." Umbra… is that my name? It feels right, the christening of new life as no need for complex names and origins, 'Shadow' is good enough. "You are my first… experiment. Needless to say, you turned out just right! For a long time, it'll be just you and me until I get my strength back up. 'Just you and me', that sounded nice. With my goddess, I could be with her forever if she deemed it necessary.
And that is exactly what happened. We walked the land of Hylia, in the sacred realm, finding the life that The Three Golden Goddesses left behind, and me? I was her sole companion.
