REDEMPTION by Phantom Bard 11/24/2000
Disclaimer: None this time folks…this is an original work of poetry which could refer to any warrior whose heart was redeemed by a bard's love. If it reminds you readers of any figures real or fictional, well, so much the better. Note the copyright this time.
We guard this land with swords and spears,
And heat our blood to stay our fears.
Our ancient foe is drawing near,
We'll fight with smiles instead of tears.
This battle rages in my sight,
And many souls have taken flight.
Though darkness triumphs over light,
The sun that shines holds back the night.
Through time we've lived in different ways,
Walked separate paths through many days.
A time will come, when, none can say,
I'll find again my love, and stay.
Together we'll redeem the past,
And light will flare again at last.
Then day and night will flicker fast,
So with these words our die is cast.
I'll part this shrouding veil of tears,
And show the folly of all those years.
Over shouts of battle her heart she hears,
And finally forsakes her swords and spears.
With me her soul can now burn bright,
She became the champion of what's right.
She guards the people with her might
And like the sun, holds back the night.
And looking back, what will they say?
A warlord who had changed her way.
She fought her night and embraced the day,
Forsaking tribute for a hero's pay.
Together we've redeemed her past,
The good illuminates her soul at last.
Our lots together we have cast,
And love eternal binds us fast.
In future lives we'll meet again,
And even be lovers now and then.
But history will remember when
Fate bore a love to the sword and pen.
