Shield

Kiki has no memory of before. She only remembers when she was used as a weapon because of her Devil Fruit abilities. She's saved by the Straw Hat pirates and decides to be their shield. She'll protect them whether they want her to or not, especially a certain swordsman. [I'm usually better with summaries, but I blanked this time. Please give it a shot!]

Hello to the few people that have read my first chapter! I'm just letting you all know that I'm going to rewrite the first chapter. It's going to have minimal action, unfortunately (since I like the action parts). I'm doing this because I don't like how I wrote the first chapter, especially the action parts. Plus, I have a different way of introducing the OC and how the story will progress. Kiki, my OC, will have almost the same personality traits that I originally had in mind (though I don't believe I portrayed them properly in my first chapter, another reason I'm rewriting it). The backstory, of which you have little knowledge of, may change a little, but you guys wouldn't necessarily know. Also, the rewrite is going to have a more secretive aspect, at least on Kiki's part. My finals are coming up soon, so I won't be busting out chapters, but once they are done, I'm going to be blowing through them pretty quickly. So, at least you can look forward to that!

I appreciate all the reviews (only two ) and I hope that you read the new first chapter when it comes out! I replaced the first chapter with this Author's Note so that people won't get confused. I will also replace it for the final time when I finish the real first chapter.

Sorry to those who liked the original writing, but I have high standards, at least compared to most of the other fanfictions out there (of any genre) so I'm redoing it. I'm not so perfectionist as actual authors of books, but I want my fanfictions to be something people like on a grand scale (at least my low self-esteem 'grand' scale haha).

Again, I apologize for rewrite and hope you all read the real first chapter! Oh, and don't worry about the length. It's still going to be 5k+ words a chapter because I hate reading short chapters. If it's a short chapter, what's the point of writing it at all? (at least that's what I think in my book). Unless there's an important reason, like it being a great place to end it or a cliffhanger that will have you all throwing your electronics across the room in a rage, the chapters will have a decent length. Though that may mean a longer break between chapters, I think a long chapters are better.

Also, for those wondering, I'm planning on doing the story in third person and putting in thoughts of more than just my OC and following other characters even if my OC isn't present if I think it will make the story flow in the way I want it to. In addition, though I tagged this as romance and adventure, it will not be solely adventure or solely romance. I'm planning on a good mix between the two.
