The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Disclaimer: I do not own this The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Two

It was unusually quiet that night in Tarry Town, which is really saying something for the town is a small sleepy town. Tarry Town is the type of town where one can easily believe in ghouls, specters, and ghosts. In fact, nearly every town's person does! One woman, who especially believes in these things, is and elderly woman. Her name is Katrina Van Brunt. She has lived in this town her whole life and has seen and heard many supernatural things in the area. The area where most of this activity happens is a small hollow. This hollow is called Sleepy Hollow because it even more sleepy and dreamy than all of Tarry Town combined. This is where our story starts.

Katrina is sitting in an old rocking chair in her son's house when her little granddaughter, Isabella, asks her to tell her a story.

Katrina kindly replies, "What story would you like me to tell you?"

Isabella said, while jumping up and down, "I want to hear the one about the Headless Horseman and Ichabod!" Katrina sat and thought for a couple of minutes.

"Wouldn't you rather I tell you a different story?" she finally replied' "One that is very much like that old legend only the real version?"

"You mean the one I have heard isn't real?"

"Oh, no darling," the old woman chuckled, "In your legend no on knows what happened to Ichabod Crane, but I do."

Isabella was shocked. "But Grandmother," she asked, "how could you possibly know what happened to him? He was never seen again after that night!"

"I know because I was there." she replied.

"Really grandmother? Oh please tell me what happened, pretty, pretty please." Bella begged.

"Oh, alright," Katrina agreed.

"Yay!" Bella yelled.

"Well, I know that you already know this but the party at my father's, Mr. Van Tassel, house is the best place to start." Katrina stated. "Remember how Ichabod and I had had a meeting right before the party ended? Well, you see he had asked me for my hand in marriage, but I had the feeling that he really only wanted to marry me for my father's fortune. Therefore, I turned him down.

"Later that night, the Headless Horsemen chased Ichabod down and just when he was about to cut his head off Brom came by. He wrestled the Horsemen, and then, all of a sudden, he disappeared. Brom quickly took Ichabod to my house where he hoped I would be able to help take care of his injuries."

"But Grandma, I thought grandpa hated him?" Bella interrupted.

"Brom may have been jealous of Ichabod, but he never hated him. Besides, even if he did hate him he wouldn't want him to die."

"Oh, ok!"

"May I continue with my story now?" Katrina asked. Isabella just shook her head yes. "Thank you. Let us see…. Where was I? Oh, yes! I remember now, Ichabod had been asleep for nearly eight hours, when he finally came to, and when he did was so frightened he decided to move to New Hampshire. I am not sure where exactly, but Brom and I promised to keep his secret from the towns' people and now I must ask you to do the same." Katrina concluded

"But of course I will keep this a secret until the day I die!" Bella proclaimed.

"Thank you dear," she said.

"Grandma, I have one more question. How did you and Grandfather end up together if he was so foolish back then?"

Katrina smiled as she thought back to those days and replied, "I think it was the fact that we both had a secret, the same one. It brought us closer together, and when we got to know each other better I realized that Brom was the man for me."

"Thank you Grandmother, for telling me the story."

"You're welcome Bella." Katrina answered.
