It's day eighteen, so let's head into the void.

Inori smiled as she and Shu walked side by side through the park. Being with Shu was something Inori had always wanted and while she can no longer be with him physically, she can at least be there with him spiritually now that her soul resides within him. She can always visit him in his dreams.
"This is nice, don't you think, Shu?"
The boy looked towards the pink-haired girl and returned her smile. "Yeah, Inori. It is. It's just…"
She took his hand in hers. "I know."
"…I've been trying to find a way to resurrect you."
Inori looked at her lover with wide eyes. "Wh-What? Shu, no, you can't!"
"Why not?! You don't deserve to be dead, Inori!" exclaimed Shu as he looked at her with pained eyes.
"But you know there's a cost for resurrecting someone," explained Inori, remembering Mana and Gai. "I don't want to put anyone else through that.
Shu place a small kiss on her forehead, causing her to blush slightly. "I know. That's why I'm trying to find another way without having to sacrifice someone else. I won't give up until I can hold you in my arms again."
The former vessel blushed even harder now at Shu's love filled words. "Shu…"
"I'm starting to understand how Gai felt all that time," stated the boy with a hollow chuckle as he remembered his childhood friend.
Inori reached up to gently cup Shu's face. "But unlike Gai, I know you won't go to the extremes to try and bring me back."
She watched as his smile had a little more life into. The two leaned forward until their lips met. Inori knew she probably shouldn't get her hopes up of being resurrected, but she believed in Shu and if he says he'll find a way then she would wait for as long as it takes.

Obviously this takes place post-series. I'm not entirely sure if I got some things right though, as I wasn't able to watch the series beforehand and I can't seem to find the manga online.
