This is the surprise pairing (not much of a surprise if I tell you it's coming, is it?) anyway… enjoy.
I've been meaning to write this for a while, but… well… I forgot, okay? Something Nerdy Skeleton said reminded me, so I found it, sitting rejected in a long-forgotten corner of my computer.

Bits of it belong to Derek Landy (pg. 172-3) – in fact, most of it is. I have just supplied thoughts to add a bit of a … different… feel to it.
This is just after Ghastly has 'woken up' or, as I like to call it, 'woken up to find himself in a human state, therefore not a stone-ish state, realising that he has lived though using his earth power, except for missing out on two, admittantly rather insignificant years, considering he's quite a few centuries old, and everything is pretty much the same. Except there is no longer a cleaver trying to kill him.' Most people, however, find this hard to remember, and refer to this time as the time when he has 'woken up'.

"Ow. Yes." Kenspeckle had never exactly warmed to him.
"All right then." Kanspeckle stood back. "You're fine" Except for that bruise you probably just gave me… He looked around. Oh my God. They're all still here. Two years… so much changes in two years… what could have been lost in two years?
Without waiting for response, Kenspeckle turned and strode out the door.
"His bedside manner hasn't improved," Ghastly murmured.
Skulduggery stepped in front of him. Theylooked at each other. "Tanith tells me that I've been gone a little over two years," said Ghastly.
"That's right."
"That's a long time."
"It is." Skulduggery wondered what he was implying. He had never been able to read Ghastly very well.
"Not as long as it could have been, but still, a long time. You're … you're not going to hug me, are you?" What? Skulduggery thought. I don't understand… he looked at Ghastly, who was looking pointedly at everyone else in the room. Still the same old Ghastly, secretive and embarrassed.
"Probably not," he concluded, angling his head in a certain way that only Ghastly knew.
"It would just be weird," Ghastly explained, smiling slightly in the corners of his mouth… Skulduggery stopped that line of thought. Or he'd end up… doing something that was not PG rated.
"I understand."
"I'm OK with shaking your hand, though."
"I'm not really comfortable with that."
Ghastly shrugged. "I get it, you like your space."
Skulduggery noticed Valkyrie staring at them, a look on her face saying she clearly didn't get why century-old friends weren't happy to see each other. Skulduggery almost laughed.
Almost.
He hugged Ghastly, and she smiled happily, thinking that she now understood.
No-one noticed that Skulduggery held Ghastly a little longer than necessary, and that Ghastly gave him a slight peck on his cheek as their embrace ended.
And no-one thought that there was anything suspicious about Skulduggery offering to drive Ghastly to his home to 'get some rest'.

Yea, I know, the whole gang ends up going back to his place (NOT in a wrong way, you sick-minded people)and so on and so forth.
But.. yea. I thought it was kinda cute. Yea, im not good at slash… femmslash is easier to write… I wonder what that says about me? Haha… awkward…
Anyway, in answer to NerdySkeleton's question, i think Skul would have to top on account of his… fragility.
