20 Reasons Why Libson's Team Tolerates Jayne

Captain: Hello everyone! Man, two fics within a relatively short timeframe. I must really like you guys!

Jayne: Oh please. You're just trying to make yourself feel better by posting two things you've written since you were on hiatus for so long.

Captain: And onto the fic! (Please disregard the consultant)

Disclaimer: I own neither Jayne or Rigsby or Cho or Van Pelt or Lisbon…or any of the show's rights, for that matter.

20) Everyone feels the need to insult their boss's boss at some point in time. Jayne just does it for them.

19) He's more than doubled their closure rate, which is more than can be said for the rest of the precinct.

18) They've seen enough tortured souls in rehab to know to ride out the waves when they hit.

17) He dresses professionally. So do a lot of the people they bring in, but he still holds himself to some personal standards.

16) Dwayne tolerates Jayne because he thinks Jayne truly is a good guy. It's hard to see a lot of the time, but it's there. And while he understands having to play the fool (firsthand experience), he also knows that sometimes it's the best way to get information.

15) He's just good enough to make even the hardest skeptic among them think he's psychic.

14) It's always rewarding to get a reaction at his expense.

13) He's great with kids. It's one of the few things about him that comes naturally. Their world seems just a little bit brighter when they see that kind of interaction.

12) As long as they're not on the receiving end of it, watching Jayne hypnotize an entire room with nothing more than his voice and a couple gestures is pretty cool.

11) Grace tolerates Jayne because she believes in second chances. As often as he causes trouble between her team and the rest of the world usually it's with the best of intentions. Not all the time, but often enough that it balances out.

10) As much of an ass as he can be, he will always come through.

9) He has a killer smile: both the fake one and the much rarer genuine one. It's a fantastic weapon in the interrogation room and with the suspects. Not that they would ever tell him that.

8) Sometimes they hate him for making an easy case difficult. And sometimes they hate him for not sticking around to accept the thanks/apologies he deserves.

7) Kimball tolerates Jayne because he has to. He understands all too well the need for personal vengeance, so he can't dissuade the consultant from treading the same path. The detective just isn't sure whether or not he hopes Jayne will turn himself in afterwards.

6) Even if they tried to kick him out, he'd still be back on the couch the next morning. There was a precinct-wide pool going as to whether or not he actually had a home to go back to.

5) Libson noticed that her team was among the select few he would willingly touch. She's observed through their cases that he doesn't normally tolerate contact, unless it's as a means to an end. But she notices the hand on Rigsby's arm, or the sudden elbow into Cho's ribs at a bad joke, or the lingering hand on Van Pelt's back. In the back of her mind, she thinks that maybe being here is far more restorative than any years of therapy would do.

4) "It was part of Jayne's plan" is a one-way ticket to a personnel file of never-ending "corrective actions."

3) "It was part of Jayne's plan" is a great excuse.

2) Teresa tolerates Jayne because she doesn't have much choice in the matter. As often as she tries to push him away or keep him from catching wind of new cases, he shows up anyway. And when she sees his little blue car pull up to another scene or another day at the office, she can't help but feel things are going to be alright.

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON…

Who else would put up with him? Seriously?
