The sounds of laughter and excitement could be heard all around the Demon Kingdom. However, in one of the many rooms in Blood Pledge Castle a lone figure stood near the windows, watching the activities outside and the party take place.
Wolfram von Bielefeld turned away from the window and headed for the desk stationed near his bed. An empty parchment lay on the surface with a feather quill propped inside an ink pot. He hesitated, knowing what he was about to do would truly be the hardest decision in his life. He knew that it must be done because he couldn't go on pretending that something would eventually happen while led on by false hope. Now that Yuuri was made permanent king of the Demon Kingdom he didn't need him around to pester him when he knew he wasn't really ever needed. After all, he was just a friend to the kind hearted king and nothing more.
He slowly pulled the chair out and made himself comfortable, finally taking the quill out of the inkpot. He positioned the sharp end of the quill above the paper but didn't move any further. Letting out a frustrated sigh at his indecisive manner Wolfram finally put quill to parchment. The scratch of the quill's movement could be heard slightly echoing around the simply furnished room.
Wolfram continued on writing down his letter when he came to a sudden stop, contemplating on how to put his announcement to words. His green eyes darkened at the thought of what he was going to write. Suddenly, his hand that was holding the quill started to shake. Staring at his hand he willed it to write the words that he knew he had to write, but he couldn't seem to do it. Letting out another frustrated sigh he put the quill back into the inkwell to give himself a moment to take everything in.
Wolfram never thought this day would come, when he would let everything he held dear go. He remembered all those adventures he had with Yuuri no matter how ridiculous they seemed, he stilled loved every moment of it for it was precious to him. The thought of leaving Yuuri's side hurt him, but knew there was no reason to keep bothering him with his presence. A slow ache bloomed near his heart, trying to cope with what he was about to do.
Looking back at the half finished letter he leaned back into a sitting position, taking the quill and putting to paper once again. Slowly he wrote the words needed to be written when he felt a wet drop hit his hand. Shocked, he felt his face to notice a wet trail of tears were making it down his cheeks to end at his chin, and leaving their destination, diminishing with splatter onto the fabric of his uniform. Feeling angered at his weak hold on his emotions he furiously wiped the incriminating tears from his eyes. Managing to sign off his name Wolfram cleaned up his stationary, leaving the letter resting on his desk for the others to see after he leaves the castle.
Straightening himself out he made it towards his bedroom door, turning the handle the door creaked open. Stepping outside he stopped to glance one last time around his room, feeling a sudden emptiness fill him as his eyes rested on the letter, but looked away and swiftly made way for the stable where he met up with a few of his personal soldiers.
Getting onto his white stallion he rode out of the castle's gates and out the city. Ridden far enough, Wolfram stopped on a cliff overlooking the Demon Kingdom. A small smile graced his face with a hint of sadness lingering in it. Snapping to attention, Wolfram turned away from his home and country as he urged his horse on. One final thought flitted across his mind.
The engagement has been renounced, you're free. Goodbye Yuuri, aishiteru.
