I DO NOT OWN INUYASHA

here is a little InuKik drabble I did a while back. I posted it on Tumblr but I wanted to post it here too.

(I am an InuKag fan but I also like the idea of InuKik and I always make Kikyo an antagonist in my fics so why not do her some justice for once lol)

Enjoy!

"My life has been so rushed, but I have finally found peace." Kikyo said to herself in a whisper as she painted her lips with a glossy peach color that glistened in the sunlight sneaking into her hut.

It was approaching dawn. She splashed a fragrance across her neck and took one last look at herself. 'How beautiful it feels to be ordinary.' Satisfied with herself, she put her mirror away and stood. She looked over at the black haired human boy, resting peacefully with the most serene look on his face.

Kikyo smiled and slowly stroked his cheek. Her smile deepened as he reached up and grasped her hand.

Inuyasha slowly began to awaken and held her hand tighter. He was pleased to open his eyes and have her be the first thing he saw.

"Good morning." She said softly.

Inuyasha lazily gave a half smirk before going back to sleep.

Kikyo giggled. She figured he deserved the rest. They had only just gotten married and needed time to recuperate from their overwhelming pasts.

Always running, always hiding, always fighting. It was anything but ordinary.

She continued to stay by his side, daydreaming about the life they would have together: the love that would grow stronger, the children that would be born, the happiness the—

Suddenly, a scream from one of the villagers disrupted her fantasy.

Inuyasha sprung up and instinctively wrapped a protective arm around his wife.

"Stay here." He ordered as he ran out.

"Wait!" Kikyo called after him as she grabbed her bow and followed.

Once she caught up to Inuyasha, she saw a man that was attacked by a wild animal and had bite marks everywhere.

"I don't think he's gonna make it!" One of the villagers said. "He's lost too much blood."

She let out a gasp, causing Inuyasha to turn around.

"Huh? I thought I told you to stay inside!" He scolded.

"I know, but I couldn't help it." She responded in a small voice. "I need to do something for this man."

He folded his arms and raised a brow at her in surprise. "I thought you wanted to abandon that life completely."

She nodded. "But I want to help whenever I can. That is the kind of person I am. I cannot let anyone suffer." She went towards the man and began to help with his wounds.

Inuyasha stayed nearby to watch over her. He knew she wasn't going to need any help from him, but he agreed to always be with her. That's what she wanted.

Back home

"That was a good thing you did back there."

Kikyo let out a sad sigh as she curled into her husband's strong arms and clutched his robe of the fire rat.

"There will always be suffering in this world. I fooled myself into believing all suffering would end once the jewel was purified. How can I ever be ordinary?"

"Helping people is just what you're good at. It doesn't mean you have to fight or put your life in danger. You don't have to live that way anymore."

She looked up and met his brown eyes with her own. "Are you happy, Inuyasha?"

"Of course I am. Why'd you ask me that?"

She smiled satisfactorily. "No reason. I just wanted to hear you say it."

"Why?" He asked in a confused tone.

"I just wanted a little reminder of how peaceful things have become for us."

"I promise you won't suffer or feel anymore pain as long as you're with me." He said confidently. "I swear it."

"I believe you."

'And in the end, I've finally become an ordinary woman.'
