Night-time in Chechnya. There is a brief reprieve as the soldiers change into night-vision, and the tanks withdraw to refuel and re-arm. Into the midst of this, a man suddenly appears out of nowhere, soaked to the skin, and starts frantically looking around for something, or someone. He runs towards a still-sparking pylon yelling for someone, worry and guilt evident in his voice.
As he arrives there, a figure can be seen, faintly lit up by the occasional sparking of the pylon, head slumped, no movement detectable.
David yelled "Griffin", as he Jumped inside the tangle of pylon, shouting in pain from the electricity deciding to use him as a playground instead. Grabbing Griffin in an awkward hug-like stance, he Jumped to the nearest place he knew without the electricity stopping him from Jumping.
He barely noticed he'd Jumped to his old apartment; David was too busy trying to see if Griffin was still alive. Unable to feel a pulse on his wrist, he tugged Griffin's jacket off and pressed his ear against his chest to try and hear his heart directly.
"No, please Griffin, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, please don't be dead, i don't know what i would do without you, i don't know what i would be without you, PLEASE!"
"I tell you what you would be, dead, that's what, you fucking bastard."
This statement, although accompanied by coughs and yells of pain, made David grab Griffin to him in a bone-crushing hug that Griffin was unfortunately too weak to protest against.
"Oh God Griffin i thought you'd died", was mumbled into Griffin's shoulder, along with tears.
Griffin awkwardly patted David's back.
"Ow, I guessed."
Eventually David let go and pulled Griffin up onto his feet, still holding his hand. Realising, he dropped it hurriedly, and scratched his head in embarrassment.
Griffin just smiled, albeit weakly, and turned away.
Before turning back, punching David in the gut, and Jumping him into his freezer.
Kicking the freezer door shut, Griffin walked away to the bedroom humming, as David yelled with pain from inside the sub-zero space.
"Never mess with me Newbie; you've got a lot to learn."
