First and Last

On one half, the not so subtle admittance of love was quite obvious. Though it took the other quite some time see the connection the two shared, the realization was worth the wait. The words the midnight haired rider spewed were indeed comparable to those of a poet. She apologized profusely to the other for the seemingly endless time it took to admit that she too felt the same, and wanted to throw her entire being, heart and soul, into some sort of relationship. It was then decided that the two would take the next step; going on an actual date.

We were out on a date in my daddy's car,
We hadn't driven very far.
There in the road, straight ahead,
A car was stalled, the engine was dead.

The two sat in companionable silence, the radio playing a tune that was barely audible under the heavy drone of the pouring rain. The chestnut haired beauty turned to newly claimed lover and smiled softly. "You don't know how happy I am, Natsuki. I always imagined this, but never thought it would happen." Natsuki let out a contented sigh before turning to Shizuru, but before she could agree, bright lights deterred her. "SHIZURU WATCH OUT!"

I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right,
I'll never forget the sound that night.
The screamin' tires, the bustin' glass,
The painful scream that I heard last.

Shizuru could hear noises coming from every direction, but none of it made sense. The last thing she remembered was being in the car with Natsuki and then- wait. Where was Natsuki? She got up slowly, her body sore everywhere. Her vision was foggy from the down pour and dizziness clouded her mind, but she knew one thing- she had to find Natsuki.

When I woke up the rain was pourin' down,
There were people standing all around.
Something warm flowing through my eyes,
But somehow I found my baby that night.

Shizuru could feel the tears building when she saw the body lying on the pavement. This was the body that she dreamt of holding close on those cold nights when a blanket simply wouldn't do. The body she would hold when watching a sad movie when she was wracked by sobs. The body that would provide comfort in her times of need, and yet here it was lying on the cold pavement. This confused her. She walked slowly until she was kneeling beside it, her eyes finally making contact with peaceful looking emerald hues.

I lifted her head she looked at me and said,
"Hold me darlin' just a little while"
I held her close I kissed her our last kiss,
I found the love that I knew I had missed.

Whatever force that was helping Shizuru hold back her tears finally gave up and they fell like the rain that was around them. He throat was dry, and it took her a minute to form her words. "Natsuki…Natsuki…talk to me. Please." She held onto her tightly as she felt the others' life force about to give up. Natsuki moved her head slightly to meet Shizuru's eyes and smiled softly before they closed for good. It was at that exact moment that Shizuru gave up and let her body go completely, collapsing on top of Natsuki. She laid there for the longest time before she heard footsteps approaching. "Ma'am, I need you to let go now. We have to take you to the hospital. I'm sorry for your loss." Shizuru's sorrowful scream was heard by all that night.

Well now she's gone, even though I hold her tight,
I lost my love, my life that night.

I was listening to the song "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam when I wrote this, and became sad myself. I highly suggest listening to it while reading. And uhhhmmm I hope you all enjoy it. Much Love!
