On The Edge

The wind rushed through her hair as she flew through the air, rolling as she landed on the roof of another building. As soon as she was on her feet, Faith sprinted, weaving to the left and to the right, sliding under and vaulting over obstacles. There was a crackling in her ear as her comms unit came to life. "Hey Kiddo. You get the bag?" Faith let out a breathy yes, leaping across the rooftops. "Good, Hurry up and get the bag to Celeste before the Blues notice you."

She slammed into a door and turned left, bounding up the stairs that were infront of her and running down the corridor. "Head to the end and through the door. It should take you outside, near Centurion Plaza." Faith did as Merc told her, hauling herself over the railing and sliding down towards the street. She leapt, landing safely on her feet before running to the underpass, Police sirens wailing in the distance. "Shit!" Faith slid under the closing shutter and glanced at the sign pointing toward her destination.

Faith ran up the stairs and spotted a blonde woman stood in the middle of Centurion Plaza. "Celeste!" She turned and held out her hand. "Toss me the bag Faith!" Faith threw it, Celeste barely catching the yellow runner bag before turning back around and sprinting off. "Good work! Now get outta here!"

Faith let out a sigh as she sat on the edge of a rooftop, watching the sun set. Her moment of relaxation wouldn't last though. Merc would soon contact her with another job. She'd be running again, avoiding Blues and trying not to get killed. But that was life when you lived on the edge.
