The Best of Both Worlds
Disclaimer: 'Fraid there's a disclaimer here for a reason… but I'm not telling you why. :)
He stared into the lake. The Hogwarts lake was so big, he thought. "In what way?"
She smiled at him. "Well, for a start, there's sport."
He sighed. This was one of his favourite topics.
"You can choose whether you prefer football or Quidditch."
He definitely preferred football, and said so. Quidditch was too complicated, an impossible game to follow, never mind play. But football… football was invented by a genius. Football was clear and simple, but unpredictable. It was the best sport of all of them, wizarding or muggle.
"I agree," she said, nodding her head and letting her sky-blue hair catch the light. "It makes more sense, too."
He grinned in reply, and lay down on his back. It was so quiet at five o'clock in the morning in the Hogwarts grounds. It was light, though, and he was used to getting up early anyway. Finding her wandering in the grounds had just been luck.
"And then there's education. Not many wizards have actually been taught Geography, and very few muggles, if any, know any History of Magic. But we've got both."
"The best of both worlds," he agreed.
Her smile had become rather mischievous, he noticed. He wondered what she was up to. "There's people, too." She licked her lips, her tongue flashing out and in like a lizard's. "You get to know all sorts of people that you wouldn't otherwise."
He frowned at her. "What do you mean?"
"I mean this," she said, darting forward and kissing him, a brief peck on the cheek
His face broke into a smile. "I see what you mean…"
And, as the sun rose further in the sky, early one summer's morning, Nymphadora Tonks and Dean Thomas learnt to kiss… each other.
AN: Read? Now review! When I decided to write a Tonks/Dean ficlet, it was really hard to think up a storyline! What did you think? Hint… hint… hint…
