DC Hooper sat in the pub with of few of his mates. He saw Dr. Hobson enter and head straight for Inspector Lewis, throw her arms around him and passionately kiss him. I knew it, he thought, they've been carrying on for years and that smug Cambridge golden boy Hathaway has been denying it, covering for them. Then he saw the look of surprise on Hathaway's face. Well for once, Hooper thought, I figured something out before the Brain's Trust.

Another new relationship was developing between colleagues. Gurdip Sohal and Julie Lockhart sat in the pub that night, anxious about being seen holding hands under the table. There wasn't any reason they shouldn't be in a relationship, they were just nervous about the reactions of their coworkers. After witnessing the display from Inspector Lewis and Dr. Hobson they were no longer nervous.

Dr. Angus Rawbone was in the pub waiting for his wife to come out of the Ladies. He observed the always professional Dr. Hobson practically throw herself at Inspector Lewis. Earlier that day, Rawbone had told the Inspector where he could find Laura. Later, he told his wife about it. "She must have really appreciated that coffee", said Mrs. Rawbone.

Anne Marie and two male coworkers from the mortuary walked into the pub just in time to see their boss practically jump a police inspector. Now they knew why Dr. Hobson had been in such a good mood all day. They made a silent pact never to speak about it at work.

A young woman sat with some friends in the pub. The others noticed the middle aged couple kissing and thought it was lovely. Liv Nash didn't pay much attention to Inspector Lewis and Dr. Hobson. She was looking at James Hathaway, wondering if he would ever bow to her again.

Someone else was watching Robbie and smiling, but she wasn't in the pub, she was in the past.
