One Jump Too Far

His life was over. There was just no way out of this desolate situation. His entire chest cavity was in utter agony, as if it were on fire! He couldn't even feel the air he was breathing reach his lungs. He was suffocating! He couldn't even scream! He wasn't sure exactly what had happened, all he knew was that one minute he was performing for the Marketplace crowd, and within seconds everything above his stomach was burning in torturous pain. His head was drenched with sweat under his turban. His eyes were crossing dizzily as he tried getting oxygen into his body, and he was feeling his head spin. The people were crowding around him, everybody looking surprised. They all smiled uncertainly, not sure if this was another one of his acts or if he was in real danger. He flailed his arms desperately, trying to grab onto anybody he could reach, but he only managed the opposite effect; the more he moved, the further people moved away, all the while their eyes on him. Even the Sultan's guards who had stopped chasing some stupid fugitive kid watched him curiously. People started applauding and some even threw coins. Didn't they understand? He was in agony! He needed help, desperately!

As he flailed around, the world around him started to spin along with his head. The buildings of the Marketplace, the veiled and turbaned crowd of people, the bright blue desert sky; all of it started to blur in his painful stupor. And then everything started to fade into blackness…

If only that stupid vested monkey with the fez hadn't suddenly pulled the sword from his throat…

Yeah...I was watching Aladdin on ABC Family, and I noticed this poor soul's face as Abu pulled the sword out of his throat...so my mind worked this out. Kinda my attempt at macabre humor. Let me know what you think!

This was just written on a whim while I wait for the next chapter of my story to come back to me all beta-read. So yes, to my subscribed readers; Chapter 4 is written, I'm just waiting on my betas now.
