"Look! Look, Nicky!" the little blonde screamed as he ran across the road to his best friend's house.
"What is it, Jeffy?" a curious nick asked.
"My tooth fell out!" Jeff jumped up and down and bared his teeth, showing the empty gap in the top row.
"Did it hurt?!" Nick screamed in horror.
"not at all, Nicky!
"Oh thank goodness" Nick clutched at his chest in relief.
This was the first time Jeff had ever lost his tooth and Nick had yet to lose any of his yet. Nick had been scared out of his wits that Jeff might have gotten himself hurt.
"You know what this means, Nicky? The tooth fairy is going to come and switch my tooth for a shiny coin if I put it under my pillow tonight. My mummy said so!"
"No way! I wanna see the tooth fairy! We gotta have a sleepover, Jeffy!" nick exclaimed with wide eyes.
"Yes! Let's go ask our mummies now!" Jeff was already making his way back to his house.
…
That night, as Jeff's mother tucked the two boys into Jeff's bed, the two boys had huge smiles on their faces. They had been waiting for nightfall ever since their parents agreed to the sleepover. The pair had gone straight to Jeff's room after dinner and had been coming up with their plan. They were going to stay up all night and wait for the tooth fairy to arrive. When Jeff's mother came in to tell them to go to bed, she found them already dressed in their pajamas and sitting on the bed, waiting to be tucked in.
Jeff carefully slipped his tooth under his pillow as his mother kissed both of them good night.
"Good night, Nicky" Jeff mumbled.
"'night Jeff" nick replied, with a small smile on his face, he leaned over and kissed Jeff lightly on his cheek.
With that, the two boys closed their eyes. The moment they heard the door click shut, they sat up again.
"Operation tooth fairy has begun, Nicky." Jeff grinned, the gap in his teeth showing.
"Right. Now we wait"
Two hours later, the two boys were sprawled on the bed, snoring lightly and cuddled together. They had barely been staying up for an hour when fatigue caught up with them and they dozed off in each other's arms.
The next morning, Jeff woke up with a start. When he realized it was morning, he quickly shook Nick up.
"Mm what is it, Jeff? Lemme sleep..." nick's voice thick with sleep
"We fell asleep, Nicky! We didn't get to see the tooth fairy!" Jeff informed, pouting slightly.
At that, nick sat up and looked around, realizing that it was already morning. He frowned and looked at the pouting the Jeff.
"Wait! Check if your tooth is still there!" Jeff scrambled to reach under his pillow and felt around. He pulled out a shiny dollar coin with wide eyes.
The two boys looked at each other and ran out of the room screaming with glee.
"MOM! Look! The tooth fairy IS real! She came and took my tooth yesterday!" Jeff's mother smiled fondly at the two boys before her
"that's great, honey. What would you like for breakfast?"
After breakfast, Nick and Jeff spent the rest of the day playing and talking about the tooth fairy.
