Arizona couldn't believe what she was hearing. Callie Torres, her ex wife, was back. She was shocked, but a small part of her was excited. It had been almost 8 years since Callie had left and she'd actually married Penny, the woman she'd moved to New York to be with. To begin with, Arizona thought that it was just rumour, it was the only thing that got round the hospital quicker than infection, but then she'd caught a glimpse of the brunette herself and while she'd been hiding from Callie all day, she was glad to see her.
It was, of course, inevitable though that Arizona would bump into Callie sooner or later and that's exactly what happened. Arizona wasn't avoiding Callie as she thought that Callie would've gone home by now. But there she was, stood outside the on call room that Arizona was coming out of after having a small nap.
"Oh - hey. Callie - you're back, w-what are you doing here?" Arizona stumbled over her words slightly as the sight of her ex wife caught her very much off guard. It was a strange feeling. Callie had developed slight wrinkle lines around her eyes and she looked tired in herself. She was still as beautiful as ever though, Arizona noticed. Arizona couldn't help but look down at Callie's ring finger, no ring there - she couldn't help but be hopeful.
Arizona's own love life had been less than exciting over the past 8 years. She'd had a few flings with some lovely ladies, but none of them had been Callie and she could never let go of the woman who'd been the love of her life for so long.
It took a moment for Arizona to realise she was daydreaming, and she looked up with a smile. Callie had spoken, but Arizona hadn't heard a word that had been said.
"Sorry, I – I missed that." Arizona blushed a little and raised an eyebrow slightly as Callie began to speak.
"Arizona – this is just as overwhelming for me as it is for you, I know. I've come back here after seven and a half years and i'm telling you that Penny and I are divorced." Callie chuckled. "All three people I've married have divorced me - I think I must be bad luck."
Arizona shook her head in disagreement. She knew that their breakup was her fault and she knew that Callie's breakup with George was not Callie's fault either.
"Callie, no, our marriage ended because of me, it wasn't your fault and I'm sure it wasn't your fault with Penny either."
