Moving Forward

Haruka gazed down on Michiru's grave, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her partner, her best friend, her love. Dead. Killed in battle. She died trying to protect me... This thought brought Haruka even more pain and guilt. Why couldn't it have been me? Those words replayed themselves over and over inside Haruka's brain, bringing on another wave of guilt, along with fresh tears. Haruka's heart clenched.

Michiru was supposed to carry the mission in her heart first, even before Haruka's safety. But Michiru had flung herself in front of an attack that proved to be fatal. Michiru had died before she had even landed in Haruka's arms. I didn't even get to tell her…how much I loved her

More tears.

Haruka knew that she must keep on living, no matter how painful life would be now that Michiru was gone. She still had a mission to complete.

Reaching inside the pocket of her jacket, Haruka pulled out a single red rose, gently placed a kiss on it, and then set it on top of the gravestone.

She dried her eyes with the back of her sleeve, and then turned her back on the grave, vowing that she would avenge Michiru's death.
