Title: Is the World Coming to the End?

Summary: During the February 1984 issue of Batman, Bruce said something unforgettable. What was going through Dick's mind at that moment.
A/N: The beginning of Issue 268 starts out with Jason and Bruce talking about what Jason's superhero name should be. Dick comes by with the Robin suit, and gives it to Jason. It was after Jason ran off, that Bruce said it. The first two lines of dialog is from the comic.
"You bet!" Jason said giddily, as he ran off with his newly given suit. Dick could not help but smiled after Jason. Then Bruce's hand gasped down on Dick's shoulder, causing Dick to look up at him. After a smile, Bruce said huskily,
"Thank you, Dick... For all the years... For everything."
Dick's mouth open slightly, and he couldn't help but wonder if this was really his adopted father. Bruce almost never thank anyone that was close to him, beside Alfred of course. Was Bruce was really an alien pretending to be Bruce? Was he replace by some other Bruce from some different dimension?
As Dick study Bruce, Bruce raised an eyebrow.
"Is something the matter, Dick?"
"Has anyone been using mind controlling devices lately? Or..." Dick paused then shook his head. Bruce frown slightly.
"So you came more than just giving Jason the uniform. Not that I know of. What is the problem?"
"What about aliens? Any weird aliens lately?"
"In Gotham? We nearly never have aliens here. Why?"
Dick shrugged slightly. Alfred wasn't there, so maybe something Bruce cooked messed with his mind. Bruce was looking confused, watching his adopted son.
"Dick, what is wrong?"
"What about mushrooms? Have you eaten any weird mushrooms? Or..." Dick stops himself before asking if Bruce really eat his own cooking.
"I haven't eaten any mushrooms."
Before Dick could question anything more from Bruce, Jason's loud footsteps echoed out to them. Dick smile at how excited the boy was, with a twinge of sadness for the past. Jason will be a good Robin, a good person to take his place. He decided that before he leaves, that he would tell Jason to watch over Bruce for him.
